Its nearly Xmas

well, its almost xmas, i personally can't wait.. whats everybody up to,and to make it more fun, whats the most embaressing thing you've ever done at a xmas party??

?

Well, last Xmas, I got wasted at work's party, I ended up confessing my undying love to one former member of staff, and fell off of my chair several times, and got back together with my ex girlfriend, who, for some reason was outside the shop when we left to go to the party. It's all a little hazy.

As for actual Xmas celebrations, I've gotta say I haven't really gotten into it, I guess it's because Xmas itself is a time for families to be together and my family are mostly still dubs... I don't mind though, it means my limited budget can go further when buying presents for people.

Sweet, sweet Chicken! I haven't been to KFC for aaaaaaaaaaages! Well, I guess that's what a student loans for, tomorrow, I'm gonna be eating like a King!

Actually I did. I had the Roast Beef and Mature Cheddar one... It tasted like a Big Mac, but it tasted like an upper class Big Mac, I felt almost aristocratic while I was eating it.

"Watchtower" - Why did Russell REALLY choose that name?

why did ct russell name his magazine zions watchtower, herald of christs presence (now the watchtower)?

i cant find reference to that anywhere.

it is interesting that the witnesses legal corporation is also watchtower bible and tract society.

I don't know if this will help, but I found this on the Official Website for the Freemason's Grand Lodge of British Columbia and Yukon. The website does out and out state that he wasn't a freemason. Whether the Freemason's are lying or not, who knows, but I can't see why the Freemasons would care enough to lie about the founder of some religion being a mason or not, I just don't think it means that much to them.

Charles Taze Russell?
Claims have been made that "Paster" Russell (1852/02/16-1916/10/31), founder of the International Bible Students Association — forerunner of the Jehovah's Witnesses — was a freemason; that the banner on the front of early issues of the Watchtower contained masonic symbols; and that Russell's gravestone bears a masonic cross and crown symbol.
Russell was not a freemason. Neither the symbols found in the Watchtower nor the cross and crown symbol are exclusively masonic. And the cross and crown symbol does not appear on his gravestone in the Rosemont United Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania — it appears on a memorial erected some years later.
In an address delivered in a San Francisco masonic hall in 1913, Russell made positive use of masonic imagery by saying, "Now, I am a free and accepted mason. I trust we all are. But not just after the style of our masonic brethren." He further develops this idea: "true Bible believers may or may not belong to the masonic fraternity, but they are all masons of the highest order, since they are being fashioned, chiselled and polished by the Almighty to be used as living stones in the Temple Built Without Hands. They are free from sin, and therefore accepted by the God of Heaven as fit stones for the heavenly Temple." Later in this address, Russell stated quite clearly that "I have never been a mason." Those who claim Russell was a freemason quote this address out of context without noting the rhetorical imagery.
Although Russell wrote about the pyramids and the Knights Templar, the pyramids are not a part of Freemasonry and Russell's understanding of the relationship between the modern Knights Templar and Freemasonry displays an outsider's ignorance of both organizations.

I personally think the Russell's use of Masonic imagery was due to his own interest in the organisation, nothing more. I will admit I haven't done a great deal of looking into this subject matter, but those are just my thoughts.

We don't get those here. It's all Ramen Noodles, and not all the great flavors you get in Japan. Just Chicken, Beef, etc.

You, don't know what you're missing! Pot Noodles are the staple of most students diets, although Mircowaveable meals are up there, nothing beats a pot noodle for filling you up, and doing it quickly.

Yeah, I'm still in the addicted to Coca Cola, although I've managed to force myself to drink Diet Coke because I figured less sugar's gotta be better for me.

connoisseur regarding them. Although I did manage to burn one once...

the real reason why young people get baptized .... to make their parents happy and proud.

to be able to get married (which is some cases, is to get away from parents).

... okay, okay, i know it depends on how young we are talking.

My cousin got baptised at 10, and although I was only 13 myself at the time, I could see it was wrong, I even told my mother that I couldn't take the organisation seriously if they are letting, (coercing or forcing may have been a better word in light of the circumstances), people that young, into making a supposedly important and life changing decision and commitment to god.

And as for young ministerial servants counseling, I had a 16 year old son of an elder, who could do no wrong, telling me why I wasn't spiritually strong, I was 17 for god's sake, and I wasn't going to take it anymore, I calmly and politely told him to go fuck himself and come back to me when he knew something about real life and the real world.

I myself refused to get baptised, despite almost being shunned by some of my friends, I wasn't even "wrong-doing" at the time, I was better behaved than any of them, but I was treated like an outsider because I didn't lay myself down to be slaughtered without question.
