As usual Lady Lee you are exactly right all the members are nearly all from the same congregation and run by an ex elder and it is like they are a club together. I find myself being careful what I say in case I say the wrong thing.

Sorry I should re read what I write before I post. I was hurt by their dismissal of my experience and how I felt. Maybe I am expecting too much I was looking for support and maybe I was looking in the wrong place or maybe I didn't know what to expect or maybe I am just babbling....

I was raised a witness but never baptised and left when I was 17 causing my father (among other reasons) to be "demoted"? from being a Ministerial Servant. For a very very long time I didn't talk about it and only recently started getting involved in the local ex-jw meet ups. Basically I felt after attending that they felt because I wasn't baptised and have been out for a long time that I was in some way over reacting with the feelings that I have now and that the experiences I had at school and with my childhood are not as important as what they have to go through. I understand that alot of ex witnesses have to be very careful when they have other family members that will shun them and I am not affected by having to hide my identity or anything but I was really hurt by it. It is like being not good enough for any side, not good enough for the witnesses and not good enough for the ex witnesses.

What was your average...
by chrissee inamount of money you put into the contribution boxes at the kh??
i was just thinking about that.
i rarely gave anything, a couple dollars for the kids to put in.

We were always reminded of it but the box never left the back wall and it was never brought around collection plate style. We wold but in maybe $5 each week but it wasn't obviously enough because I remember one of the reasons my dad was demoted? from being a Ministerial Servant was for beinh "too materialistic" and concentrating on his business too much

After 9 days of rain, it finally stopped! Anyone had flooding problems?
by hubert inwe are not used to this, here in the northeast.
friday evening, i checked out the cellar for any water coming in, and it was dry, so i went back on the computer.
about midnight, i decided to hit the sack, so i shut off the computer, turned around, and stepped into water !!

I've dragged my husband to a couple of ex-jw meetups but he really isn't very interested . He thinks the worst thing to happen to a JW is to miss out on a couple of birthdays. Sometimes being out is jsut as alienating as being in you don' t feel like you belong anywhere

Which aspect of JWs would you like to see a documentary about?
by Gadget inif you had a chance to make a documentary about some aspect of the jws, what would ou choose?
would you talk about shunning, the blood issue, explain how its a cult, or what?
unfortunately this would only be for an 8 minute segment on a current affairs programme so i need something that'll get peoples attention and make them think without having to go too deep into the subject.. what would you choose to talk about?.

Reveal something "weird" or "unusual" about yourself
by JH inwhatever i drink from the fridge, i put it into the microwave for 10 seconds so that it won't be too cold to drink.. .
whenever i drink ice cold liquids, it irritates my tongue/mouth and often triggers a sore throat.
now you have additional proof that i'm weird .

how long did it take?
by mjs mouse, ben innewbie here, a lil about me......grew up around the jw religion, never was baptized but i did get to the level of "unbaptized publisher" once, as of now i dont attend any "meetings", but still get the watchtowers and awakes pushed to me by family members.
it's actually been 3 years since i realized that it wasnt the "truth", even though i've probably have known it all along.
my question to the groups is, how long did it take you to stop calling it "the truth"?

Hi,I am new here too and have sat around for two weeks until getting up enough courage for my first post. I am raised a witness but never baptised same as you. I am 36 and left when I was 17 and sometimes I still catch myself referring to it as the truth. But it was my questioning of the truth about the truth that allowed me to escape so really the truth did set me free
