Yep, absolutely. As far as I know they will not let you marry at the Hall without asking you if you have been "clean".
Personally, even though I was an active witness and so was my wife, I insisted on being married somewhere other than the Kingdom Hall. I hate Kingdom Hall weddings and I always have. You have to allow anyone who wants to come, even if they aren't invited. But you wouldn't believe the comments I got and the rumors that went around. Everyone assumed that I was not allowed to get married at the Hall, which was not true. In fact, i did have my uncle who was an elder give our talk, and he even asked me beforehand if we had followed the bible's counsel for courtship (gag).
the worst part is, we had! Looking back, I wish we would have had more fun.

Mix JWs with a crazy HOA..........
by atypical inon top of all the rumors and gossip that have been spread around since i quit going to meetings, i am now getting borderline harassed by the witness who lives a couple doors down.
he happens to be on the hoa board, and he is a total prick who loves to point the finger.
i have now gotten three letters for violations which are completely false.

Oh, and he is an MS, so if that is really a no-no, he could be in hot water.
Thanks, my day just got better.

You may be right. I'm not sure - but it's worth checking into. I'm going to search the CD-Rom. I could call his PO and report him!!!! Tit for tat, and all that.

Deny this! Brooklyn! I dare you
by stevenyc ini'm to angry right now to write a complete synopsis on the following article from the watchtower.
it regarding child molestation and repressed memories.
i'll put in one quote, and leave this rest for you to read at your leasure.. ps, probably worth copying this because i would be surprised if they will leave it up much longer!.

I'm heartsick. the worst part is that the witnesses are taught that the elders know best, even in these situations. I can't imagine the victim having to confront the molester. What garbage. They have put themselves in a position of terrible responsibility and they have failed.
Burn Motherf*cker, burn.

Thanks collegegirl, I might take you up on that!
My basic instinct is to drag him out of his house and kick his ass, but I am trying to fight instinct.

On top of all the rumors and gossip that have been spread around since I quit going to meetings, I am now getting borderline harassed by the witness who lives a couple doors down. He happens to be on the HOA board, and he is a total prick who loves to point the finger. I have now gotten three letters for violations which are completely false. The last letter let me know that I am being charged $25.00, since they count the first two letters as first violations which I have not corrected. (Actually, I am not in violation at all).
I know, what's $25, right? But where does it end? It's bad enough that he's got bookstudy and meetings for field service at his house, which means everyone gets to stare at my house and knock on my door. It's also bad enough that he reports stupid shit like "I saw him hanging out with a long-haired bearded guy" to the other witnesses at the hall.
But now he is taking it to another level.
I sent a letter to the Property Management company asking to help them find a way to keep one homeowner from abusing the HOA to their own advantage. I also stated that this man is deliberately harassing me for religious reasons. I am waiting on a response.
Thanks for letting me rant. The worst part is that I realize any retaliation on my part will only add to my "angry xjw" reputation I seem to be getting around town.
sigh.......

Hello from LadyLee
by Scully in.
i hadn't seen ladylee posting the last few days - it's not like her to leave without letting us know that she's going away, and i was getting worried, so i called her this morning.. she called me back... she's fine, but her computer is not.
it had a major crash a few days ago, and she's been trying to get it up and running ever since.. let's make sure she knows that she's missed!

I was having major doubts before I finally allowed myself to read "apostate" sites such as this one. Once I did that, it was literally only about a month or two before I quit going to meetings. I just am not able to pretend; and I didn't want to get df'd for openly sharing what I have learned, so I have stayed away ever since.
