  so britain is leaving the european union (eu).. the governing body of jehovah's witnesses have over the past year moved the majority of its european activities to the control of watchtower britain and the ibsa primarily because of britain's membership with the eu.. further, the incorporated pseudo-political lobby group, european association of jehovah's christisn witnesses, based in brussels, is administered by watchtower britain and its officers.

  Why do people need religion in this century?

  i think people need religion because of fear.

  fear of death and what will happen at death if they have been good or bad.

  people say it gives them hope but is this not born too out of fear of not seeing dead loved ones again, or having a better life in the afterlife?

  Good question.

  No. Because all the evidence points to this not being true.

  To wilfully ignore evidence results in my lack of respect.

  It's like being asked to respect someone who actually believes in fairies. Why would you?

  i know that some people on the board have experience of being mormons, so i would be interested in your feedback.

  at church this afternoon it was an uncanny experience.

  in the past i've read a lot about mormons, so i thought i was prepared in general for what it would be like.

  i just tried to go to the site and there is a goodbye message.

  i was a member there since 2010. i was really surprised.

  i had just started posting there again after being away for a while.

  I understand the sudden cut-off may not be elegant, but we contemplated on a lot of fall-out, if we had made an announcement well ahead of time.

  I totally understand the desire to move on.

  But really, it would have been nicer to give a weeks notice so people could exchange contact details.

  Could you not just close the forums for any future postings and re-open the site for a week to allow people to pick up contact details and take note of important research threads?

  I'm shocked.

  There was a regular number of new ones joining. Sometimes every day.

  It had a different 'tone' to this site. They complimented each other really well.

  I think JWR had transferred ownership once before. Couldn't they have explored that option again?

  That's really gutting.

  I was in regular contact with someone there and we were on the verge of arranging a meetup.

  Now I can't contact them to exchange details!

  I appreciate that all things come to an end but they could have at least given a weeks notice.

  ...is an epic triumph is emotional manipulation.

  bringing together all of the stories they told thus far and placing them int he "new world" complete with the little boy who was killed in a car accident coming back from the dead.. i have a good friend who is stuck in with family and plays the role.

  he said everyone was crying, and the people next to him rated the videos by how many tissues they needed to dry their eyes.

  In the JW vision of the future it's all about you.

  You get to build house where you want.

  You get to play musical instruments in fields when you want.
  

  You get to go hiking when you want.

  It's designed to appeal to peoples narcissistic side - 'the future - you get whatever you want...it's all about YOU!'

  They fail to mention that when Old Yahweh was last in charge the nation of Israel had rules governing every aspect of the lives.

  You obey bitches - or you die!
  

  I wonder how many JW's would be grumbling that clearing up billions of dead bodies didn't marry up to the videos they used to be shown at RC's.
