Carbon dating and the Global Flood - links needed

i've been using the search function on the site to research this, but a lot of articles seem quite old and there have been some interesting developments in this field of late.. if you're not sure on what carbon dating is have a look at this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/radiocarbon_dating.

on developments in the last few years.. they highlight the discovery at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/lake_suigetsu and how it increased the calibration from 12,593 to 52,800 years.

They highlight the discovery at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Suigetsu and how it increased the calibration from 12,593 to 52,800 years. Which is a gamechanger because it could totally confirm whether a global flood has ever happened to the Earth and do so way beyond when the Bible indicates it happened.

But what I can't see if anyone has actually used these latest developments to see whether there is any evidence for the Flood. Now the gist of various online articles is no it doesn't, but they tend to be from atheist sites etc. and from some time back.

I had a good conversation with an old JW friend, and I think the above has opened his eyes but I need to back it up. Atheist sites wont help and I really need recent articles, or graphs.

Can anyone recommend good scientific sites that have seriously looked at radio carbon dating a global flood from the recent developments outlined above? Something like this on carbon dating and the flood would be great: http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=carbon-dating-gets-reset

Invites, Parking and the DC - a true laughable story

i'm in a major uk city, and we're assigned to an out of city location for our district convention.. to set the scene this site is off a busy motorway (freeway).

it's a football (soccer) stadium.

there is nothing around aside from one petrol (gas) station which also has a tiny supermarket in it.

Good call, but no. I've heard about that. The new stadium isn't exactly as popular with the brothers as the old venue in the Convention Centre!

The stadium is the same situation parking wise isn't it?

I'm in a major UK city, and we're assigned to an out of city location for our District Convention.

To set the scene this site is off a busy motorway (freeway). It's a football (soccer) stadium. There is nothing around aside from one petrol (gas) station which also has a tiny supermarket in it. Other than that, there's nothing. No houses, no commercial units, just farming fields. All the roads have parking restrictions on leading off the motorway and around the stadium. There is no parking other than at the stadium. Everyone either drives or goes on a coach. Nearest train station is miles and miles away.

So we've been asked to order our car parking tickets for the DC. It's one per family. Last week at the mid-week meeting I did just that. Here is the conversation...

Me: I need to order my car park ticket for my family.

ANold Elder: Fine, I'll put you on the list.

Me: So...

ANold Elder: So...what?

Me: What happens if you don't have a ticket?

ANold Elder: Haha, well you don't get in! Remember there's no parking anywhere else. That's why we're reminding all the brothers to order them!

Me: So...what about all the invites to the DC we're handing out to everyone on the door to door work. If people did respond, where would they park? I mean if there's no car park places, where would they go? *laughing* It's like saying "Please come to our district convention... err...but don't really ".

ANold Elder: .....er......*looks at paperwork*

Me: Oh dear...

ANold Elder: ...hmmmm.....*walks away*

Seriously, thousands of Witnesses engaged in a literally useless work. You can argue about doctrines, but this really, really is a waste of everyones time.

Once you start understanding how this group works then it really does open your eyes to the pointless crap going on around you.

Gerrit Loesch was at our DC today!

so, unexpectedly, the final talk was announced today and to my surprise and evil glee, they announced gerrit loesch as the speaker!

first off, at the beginning of his talk, he interrupted himself in the middle of his sentence to scold the microphone brother to lower my mike it's right in my face.. anyway, it was the talk on inspired truth, vs. inspired falsehoods.

he went through 6 expressions inspired by the demons.

Good grief!

How can they think that having a college education encourages people to try to "save" this system. How can you save something that will get destroyed by God (allegedly).

Their thinking is crazy!

jw leaks has published the june 3, 2013, united nations general assembly analytical report on conscientious objection to military service.. page 3, paragraph 4, of the report states:.

"the following non-governmental organizations responded: the associazione comunita papa giovanni xxiii, the centre for civil and political rights, the european bureau for conscientious objection, the european organisation of military associations, forum 18 news service, the german institute for human rights, human rights watch, the international fellowship of reconciliation, jehovahs witnesses, the quaker united nations office, the russian ngo soldiers mothers of st. petersburg, the union of conscientious objectors, and war resisters international.".

this 17 page report deals substantially with jehovah's witnesses.. .

CO Disfellowshipped in UK

so, i have it on very good authority that a co has recently been disfellowshipped in the uk.

he has just finished serving the north west london area.

i don't know any details but perhaps there is someone who does know what happened.

There was an stand in CO in London called Andrew Meredith who was DF'd for an affair. About 3 years ago I think.

Pity - lovely guy, and he and his wife looked very happy.

Arguments in favor of the destruction of Jerusalem in 607 BCE

That's a particularly stoopid site. When I read it through last year I straight away noticed this:

Tyre forgotten for 70 years.
Period begins after the destruction of Jerusalem (Ezekiel 26:1), which is 607 BCE. Period ends precisely 70 years later when Tyre's profit becomes holy to Jehovah (Isaiah 23:14), in 537 BCE (Ezra 3:1) when Tyre provides materials for the new temple.

Which made me laugh as they cheerfully contradict their F&DS on it!!

The rebuttals on Jeffro's site do indeed answer every point.

It's really simple. If they accept 539BCE then they have to accept 586BCE. It's the same block of evidence!

I'm suprised they've not used the Tyre idea in the link above and applied it to Jerusalem. Could have their cake and eat it!
