Stupid drunk drivers......
by Jesus Christ inmy house is at the end of a fairly busy street that dead ends in our front yard and then takes up again a few houses down.
i was trying to set up some email stuff for a client tonight around 10:30 when i heard some police sirens.
i stood up and looked out my window to see a pair of headlights quickly coming towards my house with the police behind them.

Hope you have another chance to pass through Dallas in your ramblings, Animal, and can stop for a visit this time. I suspect you and I could trade off stories for a long while.

I bought myself flowers today
by wasasister infriday fluff after a rather heated exchange on another thread...time to lighten up a bit.. i work hard for my money (as the song goes) and don't have much left over after a mortgage payment, car & insurance payments, and utilities.
i'm lucky to have no real debt; i keep my life simple and i learned to be frugal while living with a compulsive spender.. my one luxury allowance - fresh flowers.
when summer is over, and i can no longer pick a bouquet of assorted roses from my garden, i indulge myself in a few fresh flowers.

The day I realized faith wouldn't pay the bills
by zenpunk ini was flying back from indiana today, another stressed-filled factory installation - it was goregous and i was pondering as i stared out the window at the earth passing by.
and i was thinking about what i used to tell the other sisters when i was a regular pioneer when they asked me how i felt about higher education.. i would say, "where would you rather be when armageddon came - out in field service or sitting in some dingy college classroom".
i really believed that at the age of 18.. and then i would go scrub toilets in office buildings in the middle of the night to put gas in the car while my mind stagnated.

by Scully inbelieving himself invisible, man robs banks
tehran (reuters) - iranian police are looking for a phony sorcerer who conned a man into believing he was invisible and could rob banks, the jam-e jam newspaper said thursday.. customers at a tehran bank quickly overpowered the deluded robber after he started snatching banknotes from their hands.. appearing in court, the repentant thief said he paid five million rials ($625) to a man who gave him some spells and told him to tie them to his arm to become invisible.. "i made a mistake.
i understand now what a big trick was played on me," the would-be bank robber was reported as telling the judge.

Ohhh - what a laugh!
by Mr Magoo init's been quite a while since the last time i was in here.. i don't know if any of you rememeber my story, but i'm a happy ung male atheist married to a lovely jw.... last week i attended the study group with my wife - the i-don't-know-what-he's-called-but-he's-visiting-the-study-groups-from-time-to-time was going to be there and there would therefore be coffee, cake and cookies after the meeting.
as i get along quite well with my wife's jw "friends" (some of them being my family in law) i attended the meeting just to take part in the social activities afterwards.. during the i-don't-know-what...'s speak at the end of the meeting he explained how telephone preaching could be used and blahblahblah... in the end he then said "so are any of you interested in trying that?
" - no reaction from anyone - not a nod, not a smile - nothing.
