Jehovah's Witnesses and Racism
by karnage ini have been wondering and trying to find some information into whether the wtbs has ever played the race game.
when i see pictures of the society of old, all i see is white people.
i don't see any blacks, asians, hispanic, or mixed (black and white or whatever) couples.

I have seen a little here in the past.
I am quick to get on people's cases when the
bring that shit in here, and if I was a
mod, it would be even more efficient (hehe).
One elder put it very well:
"Any problem that is in the world, it will show
up in the organization, but it will be to a lesser
degree." -

Toasting is wrong because.........
by Gill inso why, according to the feb 15th watchtower is toasting wrong?.
apparantly:.
'toasting today may not be viewed by many as a religious gesture.

People concentrate on the "clinking glasses" aspect,
but there is also the offer of a taste to the gods,
demons, etc. as a gesture of peace, etc.
This is also where the ritual of pouring out a little
vino, etc. on a grave came from. Tupac and Biggie's
friends didn't invent that practice, just so you know. -

The only way I would do it (my brother messed around with it for a bit, but that is
right up his ally (CutCo, etc.)) is for a small business. The only way it makes sense
is paying a few bucks a month towards some contract reviews, etc. -

Haahaha.
I remember one of my first realizations of the simple-mindedness and lack of simple logic possessed many JWs, otherwise very intelligent.
I remember telling someone we would have different names for the days of the week in the New System.
Of course, they answer: "We don't know what will happen in the New System!"
I answer: "But whatever happens, it HAS TO MAKE SENSE. Currently, we use names based on pagan gods! It only makes sense that we will change the names!
We aren't going to continue to refer to Woden's Day and Thor's Day and Moon's Day and Tiw's Day. Everything has to make sense!" -

Homeopathy popular in Jehovah's Witnesses ?
by Tigerman inis homeopathy ( the treatment of a disease using, in small doses, drugs that produce symtoms like those of the disease so that one's natural immune system can fight off the disease ) popular among active jw's ?
my son who was raised as a jw has a large ( adult male palm size ) fatty growth on his back.
his jw mother is treating him with homeopathy, as is a so called doctor.

Homeopathy, properly practiced, is not "quackery."
Having not been to a doctor in 15 years, and being healthier than the
poster making the above comment, I am personally offended.
Actually, I consider myself more of a naturopath, because all homeopathic
cures don't make sense to me, and I do NOTHING to myself, or recommend it
to others, that I don't understand the rationale for. -

Drinking (booze) among "Gods" people......More then ever now?
by new boy inlooking back its amazing how many alcoholics i knew in the "borg"...................... there are 3 elders in my old hall alone........ that are full blown alcoholics...................... when, have you ever heard of someone.......anyone.......let alone and elder............ getting "dfed" for drinking too much?.
when i was at bethel........you wouldn't believe how much drinking was done there!.
there are stories of the old days ( russell & the judge)..where they would find guys passed out in front of the 124 building on sunday mornings........no big deal, just dust them off.............. and bring in.

I didn't start studying until a few weeks after undergraduate graduation. I was legal at 19 (grandfathered in, baby!), so I could have drank through most of my time there. But I had literally about half a dozen beers, and a half a jug of cheap wine. After I got baptized, and started hanging out with some younger "grew up in the truth" people was when I fully embraced my borderline alcoholic, "runs in the family" nature.

I would follow the course you have considered:
Give the elders a chance to "get their woman in check" (love to use the old slang - I am not a sexist), with the threat of public humiliation if they don't.
