this is a movement which has been growing slowly but steadily among young people in spanish and portuguese speaking congregations in the united states.
basically it is a movement created by winesses who believe in much of the teachings of the organization, but do not believe in the authority of the wts, or any other body.
they also do not believe in disfellowshiping, and believe that every decision should be a personal conscience matter.
This is very interesting. So what triggered this small underground movement? Was it internet surfing by the young ones in those congregations? (Will the internet-savvy new youth generation be the downfall of the WTS?)
And how do you know who to talk to about the doubts you have? It seems a big risk to even dare broach a subject that might be perceived as apostate in nature.
How do you endure the cognitive dissonance at the meetings - it must be torture.
This shows that more and more the organisation is becoming nothing more than a kind of Christian 'social club' for young ones. There are so many who have been born into it now and have the most sophisticated social lives and network of friends that it is understandable they do not want to throw that all away by just leaving. It can be very hard making new friends out in the 'world' and can be a daunting prospect. Unfortunately a lifetime of mental conditioning not to trust worldlings takes years to shed. These young latin brothers and sisters seem to have come up with a healthy compromise in the meantime. Good on them and go for it!
just reading through the january 1st w.t 2006. the first study article (starting on page 20) "how firm is your trust in god?
" has another dig at higher education.. paragraph 7.

i worked at the hq for a few years in the 90's and i've personally known and met several influential bethelites during my time there.
these are brothers that have been there 20-30-40+ years and hold various degrees of authority within the org.
looking back and thinking about these ppl, i can't help but comment how out of touch these people were.

Excellent point re Acts 6:5 Kenneson. This makes me wonder why the Society don't have some kind of consultation process in place with other 'anointed' ones, eg, get Branch overseers around the world to supply the names of a few 'reputable' anointed ones and get their opinions and interpretations before finalising any new interpretations or 'new light'. Then they could claim that the 'faithful and discreet slave' - at least other than just the old boys club at Brooklyn - was having some input into the spiritual 'food' being administered.

How long has the GB been made up of exactly 12 members? Do you think the GB actually thinks it is a modern-day equivalent to the 12 apostles , who they claim were a first century 'governing body'?

The Watchtower is a bit like Microsoft in this respect. You're always having to upgrade, but very little new useful functionality is included in upgrades. It's mostly patches to cover up vunerabilities.
