Watchtower admits JW's teach a different gospel

"that issue of the watch tower further stated: "in 1920,...bible students came to a correct understanding of our lord's prophecy contained in matthew 24:14. they then realized that 'this gospel' which was to be preached in all the world for a testimony to the gentiles or all nations, was not a gospel of a kingdom yet to come but a gospel to the effect that the messianic king has begun his reign over the earth.

Hi Moggy Lover. Here is a paragraph from that 1st May 1981 article you mentioned that appears to be what you are referring to:
*** w81 5/1 17-18 If God Has an Organization, What Is It? *** 3 Let the honest-hearted person compare the kind of preaching of the gospel of the Kingdom done by the religious systems of Christendom during all the centuries with that done by Jehovah’s Witnesses since the end of World War I in 1918. They are not one and the same kind. That of Jehovah’s Witnesses is really “gospel,” or “good news,” as of God’s heavenly kingdom that was established by the enthronement of his Son Jesus Christ at the end of the Gentile Times in 1914. (Luke 21:24) The worldwide witness given to this effect under the barrage of international persecution and opposition could have been given only by means of God’s all-conquering spirit. It was accomplished neither by the spirit of man nor by that of Satan the Devil. It was done with the help of God’s holy angels, as is indicated in Revelation 14:6, 7:

'Other Sheep'
by Honesty indo you feel that the watchtower has a few things 'right' about their two 'classes' of people, 'annointed' and 'other sheep' ?.
if so, what does this scripture mean to you?.
phil 3:18-20 for i have often told you, and now say again with tears, that many live as enemies of the cross of christ.

The New System is foremost on their minds and hearts. Love for Christ is hardly ever mentioned in any JW circle of discussion.
Sad but true.

Apostate WT Study
by IronClaw inso did anyone go to the apostate wt study today?
if so, how did your conductor handle it?
any good comments made from the r/f?

Human nature being what it is, the more you hear about something and are told it is naughty, the more you want to find out about it. I'd wager that a few JW's went home and decided to check those naughty 'apostate' websites just to see what all the fuss is about. Only those with something to hide will keep telling people not to look.

Yes, they teach a 'gospel' that the 'Messianic King' has been reigning over earth (of which Satan is still the God and the ruler) since 1914, yet the 1000 year reign of Christ has YET TO BEGIN!
Nowhere in the bible is 1914 mentioned or even indicated. A little research reveals the chronology and reasoning JW's use to perpetuate this pecular creed is fundamentally flawed.
Clearly, in this respect JW's are teaching a different 'gospel' than what was taught by the apostles and accepted by the disciples. It is a gospel beyond what was taught by the apostles. What does the bible counsel about such types of 'good news' (gospel):
Galatians 1:7-8 "However, even if we or an angel out of heaven were to declare to you as good news something beyond what we declared to you as good news, let him be accursed. As we have said above, I also now say again, Whoever it is that is declaring to you as good news something beyond waht you accepted, let him be accursed."

Using new doctrine to enforce NEW Watchtower policy.
by hubert inthe watchtower uses bible verses to enforce their shunning policy so that the rank and file won't talk to ex-j.w.
's and therefore find out why they left the org.. also, they use verses to stop the rank and file from looking at "apostate" literature and research the watchtower policies.. my question.... what are some of the doctrine that could be used to enforce "new" watchtower policies?
policies that should be in place, but are not?.

'New Light' with scriptural backing. Possible Watchtower Watchtower study wording::
Matthew 4:2; 6:17; Mark 2:20, Luke 5:35; Luke 18:12
"A clearer understanding of fasting reveals that Jesus approved of fasting, himself fasted on occasion, and foretold that his disciples would again practice it after his death."
Acts 13:2,3
"From this verse it is apparent that fasting was a part of the worship of the first century Christians. With this better understanding all of us are now encouraged to practice regular fasting, as we want to bring our worship more in line with original Christianity as recorded in the scriptures and thus be fully pleasing Jehovah God."

Comments that made feel pity at last Sundays WT study
by drew sagan ini believe it was paragraph 17, the one that spoke about the faithful slave and how there are those who wish to be "independent" and that this is wrong.
two comments came, both from elders.
elder 1: so what the paragraph is telling us is that instead of developing an independent spirit we actually want to be developing a spirit of dependece upon god's organization and the spiritual food they provide.

I think you hit the nail on the head VM44.
JW's know that the 'faithful and discreet slave' is meant to be all the anointed JW's around the world, who are supposed to number about 8,500 or so memorial emblem partakers, yet when they read 'faithful and discreet slave' in articles such as this the words 'organisation' or 'Watchtower Society' or 'governing body' pops into their head. None of them ever seem to stop and think about the profound implications of this.
It's the great MISSING LINK in their theology. Many JW's seem to imagine that the non-heirarchical 'faithful slaves' are continously writing to the GB and that their views are being taken into account, but the sad reality is that this just does not happen at all. The GB only takes into consideration reports from Branch and District Overseers, anointed or not. Anyone of the 'anointed class' that is outside of the official Watchtower Society power structures, which is 99.9% of them, is viewed with extreme suspicion and dubiousness as to the authenticity of their anointing. There is just no bridge, no link, between the Watchtower Society and it's doctrinaires and the thousands of 'faithful and discreet slaves' that are not a part of the inner circles and heirarchies of the WTS.
And if any 'faithful and discreet slave' does write to the Society and challenge any of their interpretations, what happens to them? Yep, they soon get disfellowshipped and they're down the road forever shunned as an apostate. That has and is happening to many JW's who claim to be of the heavenly calling. The Watchtower Society couldn't care less whether they are genuine anointed ones or not and in fact they would say that the disfellowshipped JW cannot have been anointed because their having disagreed with the WTS's interpretations proves them to have been fakes!! So the whole measure of whether one is genuinely anointed or not is total agreement and compliance to the entire body of current WTS interpretation and policy. So the WTS holds all the cards. Scary

So much criticism...but what's the answer?

Just visit other church congregations to see what you make of them. The bible does say we should try and associate with other Christians, there's no getting around that. But once you can no longer stand JW meetings it's very hard to transition to another group because most of them teach just as much crap as JW's, if not more. But it's probably worth trying. Just explore.

If you really want to help JW's leave
by yaddayadda ininstead of wasting half your waking life on anti-jw websites, this is what you need to do:.
if you are not disfellowshipped or d'ad, periodically visit local congregations (eg, once a month visit a different congo).
after the meeting is over, make sure you get chatting to someone that might know you or who might approach you, preferably not an elder or ms, but rather someone that you know is a little bit 'on the fringe' of the organisation.

You can try mentioning something else that will sow a little seed of doubt in their mind if you are uncomfortable about handing out stuff to them. For example, when they ask you how come they don't see you much anymore at the meetings, you could just say you did a bit of 'personal study' on the disfellowshipping policy and discovered that the extreme shunning practised in the org is actually unscriptural. Tell them you are stumbled. This arouses their sympathy and obviates feelings of hostility that you may just be a slack-ass or leaning towards apostacy. Or you could just point out a few anomalies, contradictions etc regarding the idea that Jesus has been reigning as King since 1914. Or ask them why the Society interprets a certain scripture this way when it clearly means something else. Use your imagination, just make it water-tight.
Going to the occasional meeting and sowing carefully worded doubts in the minds of a view is the only real way to get through to them. That's why disassociating yourself is counter-productive when it comes to actually helping JW's to learn the truth about various aspects of the religion. It's better to retain the opportunity to still talk to them should you ever meet, either informally or by still attending the occasional meeting. Let's face it: 99.9% of them just don't surf the net for JW related stuff and if they happen to find something 'negative' on a website about JW's they will quickly leave the site. Bombing them with blogs and websites such as this, etc, is pretty much a waste of time to seriously dent publisher numbers because these kinds of websites are mainly just an internal system of confirmation for those who have already left the organisation and enjoy the continuous reinforcement & feedback that they have made the right decision.

So 'speaking negatively about the Society' = apostasy? Heck, I'm in deep do-do then.
Just what is the official definition in the elders book anyway for forming a JC over a charge of apostasy?
