As long as their is new light, there is no false religion
by JH in.
if the jw's can receive new light, why can't the catholics or any other religion also receive new light, that would bring them a little bit closer to the truth.. so, if jw's can have new light, why do they call the other religions false?
aren't they also entitled to receive new light somewhere down the line and maybe become even closer to the truth than the jw's are.. as long as a religion can constantly recieve new light, so can others, which means there is no false religion, just religions changing slowly from one belief to another either very slowly, or a little faster..

What Is Your Life's Work?
by choosing life inwhat is it that you do in life that makes you feel like you are accomplishing something important?
something that makes sense to you and gives you a sense of personal satisfaction.
for me it has always been my work of helping others as a nurse.

I think for some here their lifes work is to bag the Watchtower as much as they can on forums like this, ala Danny Hazzard, lol. Or they are just as hopelessly addicted to everything Watchtoweresque than they were when they were in the org. Either way they're still mental captives to the Watchtower.

The Kingdom Hall is no place to pray
by JH inyesterday, i took a long walk and ended up at the shrine in this city.
it's well known and many tourists come and visit it every year.
it just happened that i had to pee, so i walked inside and after finding the toilets, i visited the huge catholic shrine.

Yes, you're right. Good observation. I hadn't really thought about that before in over 30 years of being a dub.
If a JW was moved to pray tearfully to God during a meeting everyone else in the hall would think they were nuts. In other churches it is common.
Something is not right with that picture.
Occasionally you see JW's tearful at the assemblies , but it's usually nothing to do with prayer (probably tears of joy that the tortous 3 days of mind-numbing boredom is over lol) -

What is the meaning of life?
by frankiespeakin ini was reading about experiences of those who smoked 5meo-dmt, found in the venom of certain toads, i had got a hold of 1/2 of gram of the 99% pure stuff and smoke it about 20 or 30 times, it a very intense trip, that allows you to see thru many of the progams we got running around in our minds and concepts we've been brainwashed with from government and culture(that's about the best way i can discribe it).
any way this experience that i take a quote from is after he came down enought to be able to speak english(i often spoke in tongues when first becoming able to speak) i thought he gave a pretty good answer to the question:i felt so clear-headed about everything that i asked my friends to just go ahead and ask me something, anything.
one of them asked me 'what's the meaning of life?

Here is what Krishnamurti said about the meaning of life:
"Now why do you ask this question? Why are you asking me to tell you the meaning of life, the purpose of life? What do we meanby life? Does life have a meaning, a purpose? Is not living in itself its ownpurpose, its own meaning? Why do we want more? Because we are so dissastified with our life, our life is so empty, so tawdry, so monotonous, doing the same thing over and over again, we want something more, something beyond that which we are doing. Since our everyday life is so empty, so dull, so meaningless, so boring, so intolerably stupid, we say life must have a fuller meaning and that is why you ask this question. Surely a man who is living richly, a man who sees things as they are and is content with what he has, is not confused; he is clear, therefore he does not ask what is the purpose of life. For him the very living is the beginning and the end. Our difficulty is that, since our life is empty, we want to find a purpose to life and strive for it. Such a purpose of life can only be mere intellection, without any reality; when the purpose of life is pursued by a stupid, dull mind, by an empty heart, that purpose will also be empty. Therefore our purpose is how to make our life rich, not with money and all the rest of it but inwardly rich-which is not something cryptic. When you say the purpose of life is to be happy, the purpose of life is to find God, surely that desire to find God is an escape from life and your God is merely a thing that is known. You can only make your way towards an object which you know; if you build a staircase to the thing that you call God, surely that is not God, Realty can be unerstod only in living, not in escape. When you seek a purpose of life, you are really escaping and not understanding what life is. Life is relationship, life is action in relationship; when I do not understand relationship, or when relationship is confused, then I seek a fuller meaning. Why are our lives so empty? Why are we so lonely, frustrated? Because we have never looked into ourselves and understood ourselves. We never admit to ourselves that this life is all we know and that it should therefore be understood fully and completely. We prefer to run away from ourselves and that is why we seek the purpose of life away from relationship. If we begin to understand action, which is our relationship with people, with property, with beliefs and ideas, then we will find that relationship itself brings its own reward. You do not have to seek. It is like seeking love. Can you find love by seeking it? Love cannot be cultivated. You will find love only in relationship, not outside relationship, and it is because we have no love that we want a purpose of life. When there is love, which is its own eternity, then there is no search for God, because love is God.
It is because our minds are full of technicalities and superstitious mutterings that our lives are so empty and that is why we seek a purpose beyond ourselves. To find life's purpose we must go through the door of ourselves; consciously or unconsciously we avoid facing things as they are in themselves and so we want God to open for us a door which is beyond. This question about the purpose of life is put only by those who do not love. Love can be found only in action, which is relationship." -

Why I left Islam
by Elsewhere inclose to that time, my father decided to go back to our country of origin.
my mother decided to cover her hair when we went back, even though palestinians at the time were not too "religious".
by now you may not want to read on any more since you found out my place of origin, even though i am very proud to be american.

Open Letter To The Society
by Outaservice indear brothers,.
you might want to consider this letter in the 'questions from readers' section of the watchtower.. my question is this: i would like to join the catholic church and at the same time keep my standing and position in the congregation!
the reason being is that i have heard that the vatican has a very good and complete library which i would like to avail myself of.

Or how about "I'm thinking of joining the Red Cross because their planes and trucks have helped the brothers in Africa."
or
"I'm thinking of joining Amnesty International so I can sit on their forums and try and win the freedom of brothers imprisoned illegally in harsh regimes".
You can bet your bottom dollar that the Society would say you cannot join either of those organisations no matter how good the intentions. -

Is questioning at the bookstudy still allowed?
by yaddayadda ini remember when i was a kid it wasn't unusual for someone to ask a question of the conductor during the bookstudy.
not that often but occasionally.
in my most recent years as a dub i can't recall anyone ever asking any questions.

Did the Society stop the practice? How on earth can they justify calling the bookstudy a bible discussion?
If not, then why aren't you allowed to ask questions at the other meetings? -

Conversely, count how many times 'The Father' gets mentioned at your local church. Compare with how many times Jesus mentioned the Father.
At your local church count how many times 'Lord' is mentioned and it is completely unclear whether they mean Jesus or God or the Father or what?. Confused?
JW's don't mention Jesus enough and the other churches don't mention the Father enough. They're just as bad as each other.
