It seems rather bizarre that he defends so rigorously the JW's use of the name "Jehovah" as some kind of hallmark of their uniquely being true Christians, yet he also says that 'Jesus is Jehovah'????????????? To say that Jesus is Jehovah, in any sense, is anathema to JWs. But if he is actually correct that somehow Jesus became Jehovah, (despite rejecting the trinity) then surely that disproves his first point. In other words, if Jesus somehow absorbed and superceded the use of the name 'Jehovah', then surely it must be acceptable to Jehovah for persons to revere God and Jesus without any reference to Jehovah at all!!! That of course allows for true Christians to exist outside the organisation.

SHOCKING!
by Dansk ini just managed to see the last 15 minutes or so of the 'tonight with trevor mcdonald' programme on british tv.
it concerned young children under 12 who had their blood tested and it was found they all had (at least those i saw) high levels of toxic chemicals in their blood.
one family ate organic produce and were generally the "healthy" type and yet their daughter had the highest levels of certain chemicals than others in the study.. a toxicologist said that although the chemicals were high we shouldn't worry too much as they are twice as high in the usa!!!.

to get rid of cancer take: vitamin b17 (can get from a type of apricot kernal, often available from health shops, or injected) www.worldwithoutcancer.org.uk, eat some Brazil nuts daily (for organic selenium), and stop drinking all hot drinks but just mainly fresh water, and get lots of fresh air, to oxygenate your cells again.

The end of the 2006 (dis)Service Year / Statistics
by Skimmer inyesterday was the last day of the wtbts 2006 (dis)service year.
are there any posters here with inside information as to what we can expect?
some five years ago i predicted that 2006 would be the peak year for the wtbts and i'm not changing my forecast.

They will keep getting modest increases right up to 2014; after that year statistics will slowly but increasingly go into decline.

Why was the WTBT$ part of the UN?
by mama1119 indoes anyone know the reason/benefits that the wt had being a member of the un, besides library card??
?

When you go back and read all the volumes of material on this site in the 'best of' section on the UN scandal, it becomes apparent that the main reasons for why the Society joined the UN are three-fold: 1 - to get access to otherwise expensive UN resources in countries like Africa, etc (planes, trucks, etc) to help the brothers in those countries. 2 - to try and take the pressure of governments trying to ban them or harshly tax them, such as in France, Eastern Europe, etc, as has been brought out on this thread. 3 - to have more access and greater credibility on certain UN forums/initiatives in the interests of religious freedom and tolerance, so as to try and help the brothers in lands where JW's are banned. The question arises: how could the leaders justify/rationalise this bizarre deliberate strategic ploy? The answer is that it seems that following Fred Franz's demise, an insider understanding developed amongst the GB or at least some prominent members of the GB, that the UN may well not be the 'scarlet-coloured wild beast' after all and that the Society's former harsh and condemnatory view of the UN should be minimised, with the UN now to be regarded as really nothing worse than any other government, in terms of bible prophecy. All governments collectively, UN included, are all the 'Wild Beast', seems to be the tacit view of the JW leadership now. This rationalisation hs come through in some of their letters on the subject. They have just never come out and announced it officially in the Watchtower as a new interpretation. I think those are the main motives behind the Society's great cock-up with the UN venture. Nothing to do with a library card - that is an outright lie by the Society. Overall I think their motives were rather honourable, but it doesn't change the fact that the hypocrisy and spiritual adultery/compromising to obtain these benefits is astonishing and undeniable.

Confess and you won't be DF'd!!! Puke alert!!!!
by Gill inwell, in nearly forty years of being a dub, i've read some bs but some of it really takes the biscuit.. take for example the watchtower of november 15th 2006!.

If you commit a 'gross' sin once but confess immediately and show real 'repentance' at the JC, you will get on private reproof. If you do the same thing twice and again confess immediately and grovel and act contritely at the JC you might get lucky and they will again just put you on private reproof, maybe public. But if you do the same sin a third time, no matter how much time has elapsed since the last time, woe betide you! No matter how 'repentant' you are, they will already have made up their mind to disfellowship you on the basis that you have shown a 'pattern' of behaviour which they will state gives the lie to your earlier claims of repentance. You are a threat to the congo and you've got to go. You could blub your eyes out and go into the foetal position on the floor during the JC, it won't matter. THREE STRIKES AND YER OUT SUNNY! It's all about discipline, nothing to do with repentance.

Can you get d'fd if the elders never catch up with you
by yaddayadda incan the elders hold a jc and disfellowship someone in absentia, without even making contact with you beforehand?
can they just summons you to a jc by, say, leaving a note in your letterbox or a message on your answerphone, and if you don't turn up, diss you anyway?

Why is the watchtower anonymously written
by headmath init seems that after rutherford's death that every wts publication was anonymous.
that was done to create a subconscious belief in the reader of divine authorship.
the watchtower is written by the fds and they are god's only channel of communication.

Because we might find out that much of the 'spiritual food at the proper time' is written by members of the great crowd, also sisters. So much for being fed by the 'faithful and discreet slave'. It's also hypocritical to claim the anonymity prevents glory going on to some individual. As we all know, the GB laps up the glory, regularly publishing pictures of themselves standing at a podium in their corporate suites at assemblies, and the organisation itself it idolised and promoted even ahead of Christ. 'Truly they are having their reward in full'. Compare with the SDA's regular magazine "Record" - every article has the authors name and photo and a brief snapshot of who the author is.
