Yep, I did. I got 'privately reproved' after rushing to the elders to confess my sin after losing my virginity via fornicating.
I think all that shame and guilt and legalism that flowed on from that experience must've f*cked me up a bit, scuse the pun. About 6 months later I got in trouble with the elders again for more fornication (with a different woman) and that was only my second time bonking! (Why oh why did I rush to the elders each time - how naive I was all those years ago?). Before long I was out of the truth and on a sexual rampage for a few years, indulging in as much fornication as I could.
Damn you WTS. I think I've been warped through the association of my first screws with all the guilt and shame before God and friends/family.

Russell on prayer to Jesus & WTS charter? refers to worship of Jesus
by yaddayadda inhelp needed.
i believe that in one of the oldest watchtower issues someone asked ct russell whether praying to jesus was allowed and russell published his response to the effect that it was ok and russell said he sometimes prayed to jesus.
i'd just love it if someone could dig up the actual article for me as i want to show it to someone who doesn't believe me.

Thank you very much JWfacts. Tremendous.
Just one thing. The article starts of saying: "Initially Russell strongly promoted the Worship of Jesus and prayer to him because he is our God."
On the evidence you've presented, "because he is our God" is not the reason at all for why Russell felt it was ok to worship Jesus.
Russell was a firm non-trinitarian and I'm quite certain you won't find any anything to support your assertion that Russell viewed Jesus as 'God'.
Otherwise, thanks. -

Also, can someone please post the statement made by the Society in it's charter/mission statement? produced in the 1950's I think, where reference is made to worship of both Jehovah and Jesus!!
Would really appreciate your help.
Cheers

My Wife Just Left Me Because of the Evil Watchtower
by rassillon inthis is very difficult to write because i am crying.
i am normally not the kind of person you will ever see cry because things don't affect me that much but this has got to be the hardest things i have ever went through.. i just got through discussing with my wife my feelings.
i guess it has been hard to hid some of the things that i have felt since i have learned that many of the wt teachings are false.

Ask yourself this: Would you rather be right than happy? Is getting to the bottom of all this creedal crap really worth your marriage? Don't let the WTS's errors comes between you and your wife.
If you really love her, then perhaps it would be best to just stop talking about all your 'questions'. It is obviously really upsetting her. Someone has to compromise.
Work it out together: Perhaps you can promise not to talk about all your 'doubts' anymore and she can promise not to harass you for not going to meetings and FS anymore. Negotiate together on a way forward.
Just a suggestion. Easier said than done. -

Raymond Franz is back in WTS ?
by Ancientofdays ina friend of mine (still an active jw) is quite sure that r.franz is back into wts.
from his point of view, an evidence is that he never published the 2nd part of isocf, even if it was announced in the first isocf.
i'm quite sure this is a nonsense , but you may help me with some information.

Tis a pity he is not back in, cuz he's exactly the kind of individual the Society needs to bring more balance and positive change. He should be hired as a consultant to set up a 'Reform Committee', lol.

New Testament support for the name Yahweh?
by WhatSexRU inexcuse me if this has been discussed before but im looking for evidence that any of the nt authors knew that the name yahweh (yahveh, jehovah, yhwh, or any variation) existed.
im testing a naive hypothesis that says that the nt authors were reading from the lxx and that they only saw kurios.
keep in mind im a complete novice and a (friendly) dangerous idiot.

"Were the authors of the NT aware of the name YHWH"
I would've thought it was axiomatic that they were at least 'aware' of the tetragrammaton given that it appears 7000 times in the Hebrew Scriptures!! -

Great post Proplog. Thank you for some great points you brought out.
The whole 'community responsibility' thing is a sick invention, a rationalisaton, by the Society to explain away their utter failure to fulfill Matt 24: 14. The statistics prove that JW's have not even reached one-half of the world's population with their message, in any way, shape, or form. Even in the one-third of the world that is 'rich' the message of JW's is hardly known. But the Watchtower leadership loves to 'ticke the ears' of the rank and file with the kind of raving speculative nonsense spouted by this speaker (its ok for the leaders to speculate, but the rank and file must never do it).
Even Charles Taze Russell could see what a loathsome, false, idea it is that God would destroy billions of ignorant persons. He argued scripturally that the ignorant masses will be judged DURING the millennial reign of Christ, not massacred before it. Russell would turn in his grave if he heard this speakers comments. How sadly far removed is the GB today from the founder of their 'Society'.
And just look at this blatant conflating of the 'faithful and discreet slave' with 'the Governing Body': "For those of us at Bethel, we have the privilege of working with the Faithful and Discreet Slave, the Governing Body. And I would like for you to know how the Governing Body, the Faithful Slave, feels about the way things are in this system of things, the time period in which you are living."
What a disgusting example of how the men running the organisaton deliberately reinforce the phoney concept that the GB IS THE FDS. It's a completely ridiculous idea that lacks any scriptural foundation WHATSOEVER. (Read chapter 5 of 'In Search of Christian Freedom' by Ray Franz to discover the truth about the Society's 'faithful and discreet slave' teaching.)
