  i was raised to be pentacostal.

  i hated that religion and their holier than thou attitudes.

  so, i went against my mother and listened to the dubs.

  Now, we've likely met some genuine saints in our lives too, people who give and give with no thought to themselves. What are they doing different from the "holier than thou" people?

  Now that one's easy. They are being nice.

  I have never heard of a Pentecostal church say women should only wear dresses and no makeup.

  Why don't you come on over to America and visit the church that my mother goes to. I can show you several others if you like.

  Of Late Many Here Seem To Be Preaching Aethiesm..

  when i first came here a while back there was plenty of discussion around and about jw topics and general chit chat but of late i've felt quite a sharp increase in posts that are: .

  1/ preaching aethism (as opposed to putting it forward in a respectful way as an alternate viewpoint.

  2/ vitriolic attacks on those who dare have another view ('damn those stupid heretical believers') .

  In my lifetime I have literally heard people mock and curse their fellow man and you know what, their no longer here.

  What does that mean? Does that mean they're in heaven or hell? Did these people believe in God? You know they say Satan could quote scriptures. People on death row believe in God. Are they going to heaven? Just because you cursed your fellow man is going to send you to everlasting destruction? I just don't get it. That remark sounds like you hate your "fellow man".

  Enigma they love each other. While I was in the Pentacostal religion, I was told that women should always wear dresses, and that they shouldn't wear make-up. That part of the religion has stuck with me from childhood. It's hard to break. I feel like I'm a Jezebel if I wear make-up. Now, you know that's wrong.... Wearing dresses? I hate to wear dresses! I remember my mother dressing me in these can-can type slips that itched like hell! I dislike dresses to this day. So, when I see a Pentacostal woman at work in a dress, it just makes me dislike them. They are really overdoing it. Come on! Wearing a dress while you're doing physical labor? I, also, know that they are trying to show how faithful that they are to their religion. These were the ones that would put my mother down. I hated them. My mother would work her fingers to the bone trying to raise money for this religion, and yet, it was never enough. The ladies that would become "mothers" of the church were the ones that had more money or their sons were preachers or deacons etc... My mother always wanted to be considered a "mother". She is the kindest person that you could ever meet. She would give you her last dime. Yet, they still looked down on her because she was poor.

  And can you believe these televangelist! Send money and your prayers will be answered! I've seen people in the hospital looking at these channels, could barely pay their hospital bills, sending money to these preachers! Don't get me to talking about them! Saying stuff like "We can heal you threw the phone line"! *groan*

  I'm just rambling. It's just sick!

  How much do you spend on the internet?

  i just realized that i'm an internet fanatic.

  i have got to have access.

  over the weekend, the broadband company that i used had a "node" out.

  I just realized that I'm an internet fanatic. I have got to have access. Over the weekend, the broadband company that I used had a "node" out. That node out was the one that I used. I began to have panic attacks and started feening! I quickly ran for the phone line. Once I hooked that up, I realized that it was really slow. So, feeling very put out, I went and ordered DSL. They just delivered the box of equipment today. Now, the node is working again. So here I sit, wondering if I should keep them both; so that I will have back-up if one or the other is not working. I figure I can put the DSL on my computer and leave the broadband on my daughter's computer. I have all of the wireless stuff for the broadband. I made sure that I got the wireless stuff with the DSL (mo' money). Got to stay connected!

  Does anyone else out there have more than two types of internet connections? And do you think that you're as bad off as I am?

  I have always been this way. I was raised to be Pentacostal. I hated that religion and their holier than thou attitudes. So, I went against my mother and listened to the dubs. Then I learned that they were just the same, but worse! Now, I've got kids that are shunning me, because they think that they are holier than thou. They think their sh*t don't stink. I don't think that I can be a religious person, especially if it means you got to be holier than thou! I just had to get that off my chest! *sigh*
