Isn't it true...the more stupid one is.....the more they look up to those they think know more than them. With WTS no education for the lowly ones means the uppity ups will always be in control.

i sent this response to an email...it was in response to the article here on jwd about "jehovah's roofing service" or something like that... .

anyway...i've recieved a couple of unsolicited witnoid (thanks tetra for that term) emails and this is one of my responses...with their post at the bottom.

i accidentally deleted an even better one...a 77 yr old witnoid "sister" who automatically called me a liar and that it must be my fault that the "brothers" treated me unkindly...as jojoba would never allow that....yeah right!

I haven't replied yet, but I want to compare the WT to that couple in the New Testement who bragged that they were giving so much, to make a show of it, but didn't give what they said they were and God struck them down dead.

Charles Taze Russell & His Secret Mission To S. California That Killed Him

the last 5 months of charles taze russell's life was quite hectic, and according to reports in the watch tower magazine, russell's health was declining throughout.

in september, 1916, russell went on a convention train tour which lasted nearly the entire month.

this train tour included stops in several southern california locations around the 8th through the 12th.

Prayer??? Real or just something we fool ourselves with!

i was thinking about this today and i found a interesting thought in my mind that i thought would be worth considering here.

i should start off by saying that i do not think prayers to god are answered, as it is like making a call to a wrong number.

however, i do think you can fool yourself into thinking they are, in the following way.. let's say you pray over and over asking for this and that and that.

I like to read the Psalm of David...He said some very heart felt Prayers

1 ¶ A Psalm of David. The earth is the LORD'S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. 2 For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods. 3 ¶ Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? 4 He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. 5 He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation. 6 This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Is it possible for the WT society to ever convince us of true reform?

i got to thinking about this and for me anyway, they would have to come clean on at least the following things:.

an honest retraction must be made on all the ridiculous chronology (of course including the false prophecies).

by this i mean, stop this psuedo numerology stuff of adding up this or that date, adding on x many years, etc.

There are certainly many more items worth a mention, but aren't just these three such a heavy burden that WT will almost certainly never get them through the gate?

It would be easier for them to go threw the eye of a needle than to give up all that they have and start over.

Christianity, Satan & Halloween

forget about being a witness - i never, ever understood how mainstream christian people could justify participating in a celebration that is so overtly satanic.

while i recognize the ability to dress up in non-satanic costumes, the participation aspect bothers me.

of course, now, my kids want to trick or treat, but i just can't bring myself to say "yes.

Article criticising Mennonites for shunning

in the last few months there was an article in the wt or asleep!

about the mennonites or amish, and it mentioned how awful it was that these groups shunned members.. i can't for the life of me find it on this site, or on watchtower.org .

i need this for a project i'm working on.

A longtime Witness in North America who grew up in a South American Mennonite colony heard about the families' plight. He had a special desire to help. Within a week, he flew down to Bolivia to visit them. In addition to providing much spiritual encouragement, he helped the families to buy their own pickup truck so that they could get to meetings at the Kingdom Hall and also get their farm products to market.

More than likely he had a special desire and saw an opportunity for investment.
