I have a son who is a JW. I had a talk with him today and told him I will come to visit him for a week as he lives many miles away and is going through some distress right now. He knows my stand on the WTS as I have left the organization because of their lies and greed. His words to me were...Don't come if you are going to talk propaganda...Obviously I was not shunning him...but he is brainwashed by the WTS in believing he should shun his Mother. Normally my son is a very loving person, so this attitude of his took me by surprise. My conclusion is: The WTS is a mind control cult.

JWD Milestone coming close
by Lady Lee ini have been watching the page counts for the last 2 months.. jwd is close to have 5000 pages of posts.
as of this post we are still 11 pages away from the 5000 mark (4989).
i bet simon never expected this to grow the way it has or become the wonderful resource and gathering place of so many who need the support and understanding of those who need it.. from active jws to ex-jws to doubting jws to ubms of jws and even the curious as well as the odd student wanting to write a paper jwd has been a great place to learn, get and give support and connect with others.

Hell

in some places in the bible it is decribed as fiery.

Now the Catholics are not sure, what hell is. Is it fiery? Is it cold? they are not sure. What the Catholics are sure off, is it is a place of iternal punishment. Not that one's soul is tormented day and night by the fires of hell, but the sould of an individual is separted from God or from Jehovah.
I didn't know the Catholic church had changed it's stand on hell? Interesting thought

Squeezing blood from turnips and little old ladies
by Virgogirl indoes anyone know how much pressure is currently being put on the elderly brothers and sisters to name the witchtower babble and trick society prominently in their wills?
since older ones account for a big chunk of the membership, this could increase their coffers if they convince our parents and grandparents not to be "greedy" and to sign it all over to the worldwide work.
i have heard firsthand of elderly widowed sisters having elders appointed as executors of their estate, to handle will administration and personal affairs for them, along with an attorney-brother giving legal advice as needed.

I remember very specifically as well something that was said at a door by a "nasty do not call" (he really was though, threatened us with physical violence and I was about 8 at the time). He made very specific and pointed claims of the watchtower being a parasitic organization that preys on the elderly. Mentioning his mother being squeezed for money by them all the time, Im not sure in relation to what since I was so young at the time. But it was such an emotionally charged incident that it remains in my mind to this day.
Really, I think it is wrong to hold the members accountable, who know nothing about the dirty dealings of the WTS.
