Just to know he understands you and accepts you is worth more than gold.

woke up this morning and I have a huge smile on my face. I feel like everything will be okay no matter what happens now. I really needed to have my dad understand me through all this, or just to acept me no matter what I decided about the org.

i thought i would let you know that my dad, passed away a little while ago, tonight, january 23. they called me at 6pm to tell me.
he had been failing rapidly for the past month, and had completely lost his hearing and was totally blind.
the dementia was extreme too, and he still knew me on thursday, but didn't wake up to know me in the following days.

i da'ed myself a year ago.
if i invite jw family members over for dinner can they attend?
if they are trying to be good JW's they wouldn't come, but hey - I say put the invite out there and let them be the ones that have the ball in their court.....ya never know what may come of it....

sounds like a perfect ending to me. I'm still trying to be cautious and not get my hopes up too high, but mentally it seems like he's made some huge steps in moving away from the organizations mentality.

that you ever remember having with an elder, ms, co, do, governing body member etc?.
there was a family that i knew growing up, when my dad died, and our family was going through some problems, the dad,an elder in the hall, was the only one that went out of his way to take me under his wing and treat me like his daughter.
really nice guy.. anyone have any good experiences?.
I like going back and remembering the good things that I experienced. It helps me remember that, while I get angry now and then, there were and are, some really good people in the Org.Those same people might be lurkers here. If not now, maybe tomorrow or someday.

yes. I hear your argument. I agree. My father truly loves the organization and what it "says" it stands for, however he is starting to see the hypocrisy and the cracks. I do think he will cling to it at first and try to defend it. I am expecting that. thanks for the reality check.
I will take this slow. it will be very hard for my dad as he has much love for the people and the ideas behind the organization.....
ok, what's your junk food addiction?.

yup. I'm kind of floating right now. I can't believe he admitted he's had doubts recently. I have to play it cool and not get too excited. I also have to be careful with the amount of info. I give to him at each sitting. At least he won't shun me and my family. that's all I wanted really. He says he'll be cool with us not matter if we stay witnesses or not...

he is really an amazing guy. can you see why he had to step down as an elder? he actually still has a heart!
