  i have been trying to sort this out scripturally, and would like to get input from christians on how these two concepts differ and/or overlap.

  please be liberal with scriptures to support statements.

  i think there may be others who are trying to figure this out for themselves, too.

  You do not have to pray. You can pray. Some had the custom of forsaking the gathering of themselves together, so obviously you did not have to gather together. Your post is full of assumptive resistance to JW-esque dogma and doesn't really respond to this thread or anything I wrote at all.

  Terry: UNMERITED FAVOR (grace) is ridiculous for the very reason you do NOT MERIT receiving it. God has to suddenly impute righteousness to you and refuse to see your sin (covering it over and hiding it from view). God does this for a reason and the reason has to involve justice (justice is getting what you deserve).

  If you really believe this belief is required of Christians no wonder you aren't one. That is a stream of nonsense. And it comes from your foolish (or angry) brain, not mine. You'll not impose that senseless tripe on me and ask me to swallow it. You again, without basis, assert several facts as though everyone should know them. You base them on nothing but your word, which means exactly sh-- to me. Citing Catholicism as an authority in religious matters will likewise fall flat with me, especially if they tend to support your dismal and hopeless view of the Christ figure and of Christianity.

  Your story addressed none of those. I never asked for a discussion of justice. Feel free to create a thread discussing it, if you like. The subject here is grace and forgiveness from a Christian perspective. Your story only expressed your perverse and cold interpretation of the hope from the Bible, very much contrary to what I requested. You are not a Christian and the Christian views you post are not your own. Please stop plagiarizing the writings of others, and please stop begging for attention and respect where you give none.

  SBF, but the disciples did not spread that misinterpretation by organizational edict. Nor were they told that they should spread that message. Nor were they told that it was confirmed by God, as Bible Students were told about the 1925 date.

  I agree.

  But, conversely, disprove 607 BC as a possible date for the destruction of Jerusalem and you simultaneously disprove all the claims attched to that date by the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses.

  What I don't understand is the comfortable way JWs assume they are right about the timing of Jerusalem's fall and further assume that everyone else has to have a precise date as an alternate in order to claim 607 is not correct. Tens of thousands of ancient, contemporary documents utterly remove all possiblity of Jerusalem falling in 607 BC. That is not an exagerration. Thousands upon thousands. And yet, still the average JWs put up a much bolder defense against these documents than the Watchtower Society has ever attempted.

  The reason should be clear to any JW. The WTS doesn't dispute the huge body of contemporary archeological evidence because they know they cannot actually support their 607 BC date. They leave it to armchair scholars like ... well, like scholar, to dispute these documents.

  That corporation is spineless and cowardly.

  I have read the book, "Millions Now Living Will Never Die." It is not a transcript of the talk, but is the basis for the preaching campaign. The full title of the talk is explained, in detail, within the book.

  I take it you have never read the false prophecy that truly first launched the religion. I have all the specifics.

  The book proclaimed that the world ended, on schedule, in 1914 and that the ancient worthies would be coming back in 1925, just prior to Armageddon, the final destruction of the wicked. I don't know which "specific points" you are you talking about.

  Was the title of the talk a true or a false proclamation? That is a "specific point" from both the Proclaimers book and the Revelation book.

  I hope you aren't just going to pretend to have answers for me again, while only stringing together lots of completely immaterial questions, like last time. I am not going on a scavenger hunt with you. Either you can or can't answer. Either you will or won't. I hope you will show some integrity.

  Since the world had not ended in 1914, as the talk proclaimed, and people of merely 20 years of age who heard the talk are now from 104 to 109 years of age, if they are still breathing at all, was this talk and preaching campaign an instance of false prophecy? If not, what was it?

  In other words, were the beginnings of real organizational growth spawned by truth or by untruths?

  I am very curious to know why the Watchtower Society seems to speak glowingly of this talk series to this very day, when in my opinion, the outrageous claims it made were obviously not true. So if any active JWs could please help me understand why I should not regard this talk series and preaching campaign as false prophecy, I would appreciate them sharing their rationale.

  (actually it's one of the many things that don't make sense to me about "the truth").

  Death is natural. Sin is natural. More life is a gift.

  That gift doesn't come from sinlessness (like JWs try to teach about Adam and Eve). It doesn't come from works (like JWs teach and the Pharisees taught). It comes from being declared righteous by faith and grace (i.e. "undeserved kindness"). (Romans 5:15-21; 6:21-23; 5:1, 2; 11:5, 6)
