i met these folks over the weekend, and i am glad i did.

I so very much wanted to meet you.

I sat by Deputy Dog when I first got there, but had no idea who he was from JWD. After lunch I sat with Grace for a couple of hours before I had to head back to the Student Home. I met Doc Bob briefly, but didn't get to talk with him much. I did not meet his wife. I met Apostate Kate's husband—who has never been JW and probably (properly?) thinks we're all nuts for ever having been.

I also met Rick Fearon, but his wife wasn't feeling well so our conversation was very brief. I hope he and I will be able to talk more. I didn't formerly realize he'd been interviewed by Löesh for a seat on the Governing Body. I am anxious to hear some details of that process.

I had a grand time, met lots of people; but for the content of the program you'd be better off letting Deputy Dog or Grace fill you since I missed so much of it.

That is how so many major changes have happened. 1878 being the year of Christ's enthronement. 1874 seeing the start of the parousia. The Society no longer being the Faithful and Discreet Steward, but shifting this title to all remaining partakers.

Succeeding generations will never know the old doctrine existed unless an apostate show them, and older generations of JWs need apostates to explain the "New Light" to them. Isn't it funny how dimly new light "shines"? It is as if it was "New Dark" instead.

This is the argument my dad used to justify "new light"

i was talking with my dad the other week and i revealed my doubts (well, not doubts really, conviction) that noah's flood didn't cover the earth.

he tried the usual, first he printed up all the stuff on the flood that he could find on the wt cd (even though i told him that i already read everything the society has ever written about the flood) and when that failed to convince me he brought out the ol' trust in jehovah(tm) line .

plus, he said that since i was so enamored with science to disprove the flood i should consider how science doesn't have the same position on certain subjects compared to the past and that it's based on progressive understanding.

The Scientific Method is a structured method of discovery which encourages (in fact, insists on) independent research, testing, and verification of ideas subjected to its rigors. Rational opposed arguments and alternate explanations are also sought out and encouraged. There is no conflict in science if four dominant theories coexist explaining the same set of phenomena.

The JW "New Light" doctrine is a method of informing a religion's adherents by one-way communication of a changed understanding. It is forbidden to subject "New Light" to independent research, testing, or verification of ideas thus communicated on pain of disfellowshipping. Conformance is required; rational opposed arguments are harshly silenced. Unanimity is guarded at all costs; in the name of unity.

The JW method of revelation is the encyclopaedic textbook definition of "Propaganda" and the Scientific Method employs education.

There is no justification for the "New Light" doctrine.

Well, she is right. It isn't a big deal. But it should be to those who still claim to believe the JW dogma and who still teach "present truth" (i.e., "future falsehoods") to others.

I hope Trevor keeps his word and pays her back, but I will be surprised if he does. She gave (enough to convert to about £22 or £23). She tried to give me money, too. She saw I only had $6.00 in cash with me and felt sorry for me. I explained that I had debit cards with sufficient money in the accounts.
