Praise his noodly appendages! Feed from his plump, meaty orbs of spiritual fortitude! And if all could come to his table and be sated would there not be peace?
i'd like you all to tell me 2 or 3 things:.
1- were you raised a witness or not?.
2-if you were, was your family very "theocratic" or not so much?.

i am new here, and a new fader.
therefore i have been shielded within the congregation from the recent media coverage over whatever it is.
does anyone have links?
First came the NBC Nightly News spot on big payouts by the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society to settle abuse cases in California, then the media outlet for Jehovah's Witnesses, www.jw-media.org, hosted a supposed exculpatory video wherein a Doctor specializing in abuse victimization explained that pedophilia was virtually unknown 18 to 20 years ago in that field.
The it came out that the "Doctor" was NOT a Doctor but, instead, was a licensed social worker. She had given the interview more than 10 years ago and was speaking specifically about adolescent abusers preying on same age or younger children, NOT about adult abusers as the WTS clip editing made it appear.
I think that is probably what you were asking about.

now, there are so many from which to choose...where is one to start?.
well, since i'm an old-timer, i must by default cast my vote for clayton j. woodworth, that inspired author and editor of the golden age who single-handedly warned the world about the dangers of aluminum cookware and vaccinations, among so many other things.. only once in a generation comes along a man with such inspired insights as to baffle the minds of mere ordinary humans..
However, these men were indeed all celebrated JW scholars.
And they all disagreed sharply with each other about the meaning of the symbols in Revelation for highly celebratable reasons, too.

I'd like to vote for whichever one(s) of the New World Translating Committee "translated" the word "other" five times into Colossians 1:13-20.
Given the fact that Paul was very well versed in Greek and used heteros freely in a number of contexts, it would take a remarkable scholar indeed to divine that he intended its use in these passages where he didn't put it in.

Not unless he did it posthumously, onacruse.
i've been reading various posts and i notice that fading is often advised by others who have done so or wish they had done so.
why is this better than being df'd?
i'm assuming it's because your family will not shun you if you are merely da'd ?
However, if there are things you no longer have any conscience qualms about that would be of a more public nature (Christmas decorations, birthday celebrations at restaurants, etc.) you may find that it becomes too restrictive living under the constraints of being careful what other JWs see you do. In that event, you could either just let their slander run its course or you could DA yourself.
Also, if you have relatives who are gung-ho types who don't respect reasonable boundaries on privacy and conscience it will be much more difficult to fade.
Every situation is unique and the consequences of each decision will only have to be endured by the person making the decision. It is basically up to each person to weigh the situation they are in and decide from there. No one can do it for you.

merry christmas everybody!.
somebody here committed a random act of christmas kindness and made me cry and nearly made my kids choke up.
you know that big lump you get in your throat when you try not to cry?
Merry Christmas to you too, darlin'!!!
What a nice post to find on this chilly Pennsylvania morning.

Extended family was ultratheocratic (and huge), 99% still JW
non-denominational Christian, won't join a church again
do you know why the nwt starts verse 2 of daniel ch.
1 with the words "in time..." which are not in the original hebrew text nor in any of the english translations i checked?.
has it to do with supporting their 607 b.c.e.
ona, that was a MASTERFUL imitation! Bravo!

Hi scholar! Welcome back! You are still one of the champion Black Propagandists for apostates, in my opinion—a perfect foil.
Your "celebrated scholars" have been routinely demonstrated to be nothing more than maledicted escolars, i.e. accursed oilfish.
