  Is changing the "truth" / presenting "new light" really so bad?

  playing devil's advocate here.... what's the difference between the gb changing bible interpretations compared to parliaments all over the world changing laws?

  although the us constitution (=bible) remains untouched, congress passes i don't know how many new laws every year.

  and of course people are expected to follow them.

  Why haven't you been to the meetings?

  some cong-member asked my wife this question (in the street, stopping her on her bicycle) in a rather police-like fashion.

  i wasn't there so i don't know her immediate reaction and response, but she got very upset afterwards and one day later this still occupies her mind.

  i believe it's an emotional mix of anger, sadness, shame and guilt.. she doesn't like this intrusion in her privacy from some jws and on the next occasion she will try to make this person respect her boundaries (or just ignore her).

  Huge discrepancy between English and German wikipedia articles about JWs

  the english version seems fairly balanced.

  to me it almost has an apostate feel, citing coc or describing doctrine changes and interesting details about wt history.

  but the german version?

  My 4 year old son starts asking about death

  my wife is a moderate jw, me i am agnostic.

  she can "offer" eternal life on earth, which is difficult to top.

  first i told him, that there is actually no proof for what his mother tells him.

  How to prove the Watchtower wrong with their own recent literature (May 15th, 2014)

  this is very good, at least it will be in a few years.

  sorry if it's been posted here before already.. it's in the watchtower magazine may 15th, 2014, last page: from our archives: they talk about a public speech held in sao paolo in 1923 where they also distributed the brochure "millions who now live will never die" (pictured in the magazine!).

  a quick calculation: 1923 -> 2014, how many people in the world now are 90 years old or more?

  Birthday celebration/participation

  my wife is considering to let our kids participate, maybe even celebrate their own birthdays.

  she says what can be so bad about just giving a little kid (who doesn't yet understand the bible) a day full of joy and happiness?

  she herself actually delayed her own baptism as a teenager in order to celebrate one more birthday.

  Raising kids - JW mother, agnostic father

  my wife and i have two wonderful children aged 1 and 3. i was raised as a lutheran but stopped believing in my late teen years.

  my wife is what i would call a liberal jw (yes, i believe such people exist .

  sooner or later our children will have questions about religion and the differences mom and dad show towards it.

  How help my JW-fiancée with her trouble with some JW-family-members?

  i am 29 years old, not a jw (never been one, never ever gonna be one), but i am engaged to one (27 years old) and we have marriage-plans for the end of this year.

  we are getting along more than great, no real troubles about this religious topic in our relationship (so no need to write me some of those run-and-hide-posts .

  and we are talking about her family: two sisters are quite dedicated jws, the mother is studying with them, the father died a few years ago and her 4 brothers don't care at all about the jws.

  CoC in Spanish - Any idea where I can find it?

  i am trying to find raymond's "crisis de consciencia" anywhere but failed miserably so far.

  i know it does exist, but i guess it's not being printed anymore, right?

  amazon.com does not have it any more, neither in the us nor in europe, and the only available used copy in the internet i got hold of a month ago, obviously got lost during shipping.
