  What charities and clubs do you enjoy NOW, that you could not before?

  i couldn't help but notice how one of my jw friends always shows interest in some of the things we are involved with.

  my husband is the leader of a boy's club at our church, we have study groups on books of the bible (using the bible only, no guides or other books), we donate gifts to children in our area and abroad, we support wycliff bible translators and personally have friends that are in remote areas of the world translating bibles into languages that are unknown to most of the world, we try to help in any area that we feel led by the lord.

  i asked our jw friend why he doesn't approach his congregation or elders and ask if he could start an out-reach for kids.

  When you were a witness, did you ever wonder where the GOOD witnesses were?

  i grew up in the borg and can remember feeling a disconnect with the portrayal of witness behavior in the literature and what i actually experienced.

  the stories from the yearbook about people wanting to study with witnesses "thirsty for knowledge of the truth" were so different from the responses i got in the fs, where people just seemed annoyed.

  the pictures of happy folk and families of all colors looking toward some ray of light, united in the love for jehoober and each other, did not square with what was going on in my congo.

  Why is car insurance lower for women? Because they have less accidents, they are better drivers.
  Whenever I see someone doing a horrendous job backing up, parallel parking, passing on the right, you name it, it's a man. Think of your friends -who has the most accidents? For me it's about 80% guys.
  When guys get into accidents it's because they are risk-takers, being adventurous or other positive qualities. When a woman gets into an accident it is because she can't drive. Right.

  oh my god scully - that is the sooo terribly funny. i have to give that to some witnesses that I know- the thing is, that they will HAVE to laugh because it is hilarious- but if they DO laugh they are acknowledging how pathetic the JWs are...

  householder, shaking his head: "you people really are the lunatic fringe" (placing the mag. on something to do with homosexuality-??? anyone remember that one?)
  I like that reply now cause it is soo true. at the time i just felt really embarrased and indignant that he thought he was sooo superiour and had a "liberal" view on gays. it was frustrating cause at the time i really knew the jw's were soo wrong in their view of gays. yet here i was, out preaching their destruction... totally embarassing...
