Thanks, these are all so funny...
There was this super pious guy (my age) in the congregation who was a mediocre reader but always trying to be serious, superspiritual and impress the elders.
At bookstudy, he was reading and there was a few pages on some subject that had "Sheol" and "Herod" peppered throughout the paragraphs.
But he would say "He-Rod" and She-Hole". (not on purpose! he just couldn't pronounce them!) Oh god, I could hardly contain myself. Everyone else was keeping a straight face but I kept peeking at my mom to make her laugh. That guy was such a tool.

Well, I think my apartment is haunted.
by Steve Lowry inyep, thats right, haunted.
i have never had a dwelling place with so many unexplained noise and goings on.
lights that have been turned off, magically turn back on and visa versa.

Right on Kid-A.
I am reading that book right now! I totally owe Carl Sagan a debt of gratitude for showing me how the mind works with stuff like this.
Did you find the JW reference???
Coming free from the WTBTS was all about leaving behind fear and superrstition- sometimes it is difficult for me to understand why people hold onto stuff like angels, demons, aliens, "visitations" etc.
Humans all have an innate desire to be in awe and have a sense of wonder about the world. Too often it is manifested by making up fairytale explanations of everyday events instead of learning in depth about the fascinating world that surrounds us and being in wonder over nature, science math, etc. -

Finally downloaded the application for America's Next Top Model. :)
by stillAwitness inwell, i been "living in sin" for about 5 days now and aside from an elder asking if i was gonna still do a talk i was scheduled for this past monday (i told him no of course.
he knows i moved out and only asked about my literature) i finally worked the nerve to download the application for this season's america's next top model.
i've been modeling for some time now and i figured what the hell...i have nothing to lose but $3.95 in postage.

Stilla- Save your $3.95 and post your real pic here and we'll judge ya!
Seriously, if you aren't afraid of getting aposta-busted, (and it seems like you're not... livin in SIN and all... ;) ) post your picture- seems like there's be lots o folks here who'd give you our 2 cents... -

Nice pics Mike,
I love those tide pools at Trinidad. I saw one hermit crab eat another hermit crab there...
What is your site address?- I like to see your art.

OK I read a little on the issue and I think most people are ok with the embryonic stem cells (grown for 14 days) but the trouble starts when the researchers want to grow them longer to harvenst the cell types (liver, bone) that are hard for the undifferentiated cells to grow into. I think folks assume that you'll get runaway "fetus harvesting" and be farming out like, 5 month old fetuses...
I guess that the limitations of the 14 day embryonic stem cells necessitate a longer germination time?

I'm a little ignorant on this subject- I assume they are not aborting fetuses SOLELY for their stem cells...???
Abortions are going to happen anyway, right? Why not use that resource for medical advancement?
Being pro-stem cell research (from fetuses) does not mean that you are pro-abortion, just that you are anti-waste (of fetuses). That is, if they are not aborting solely for the stem cells. Can anyone clue me in on this??? -

Steve- that is JUST the type of story that happens to people (except that they don't go back and check, or something) that they SWEAR as proof of paramormal activity. If you never found out about the dog, like it got untied somehow before you get back, there would be no way of explaining the situation without falling back on the paranormal...
I think that is what happens to 100% of folks who have "paranormal experiences".
Hilarious story- at 10, I would have NEVER gone back!!!!!!
