  Did anyone in your congregation have "perfume allergies"?

  over the years, in the congregations i have been in, there have been 4 different people with "perfume or cologne allergies.

  anyway, they would always sit in the library, and at the bookstudy some years ago one sister would sit outside and comment through the window!

  another sister would sometimes wear a white "surgical" mask in the hall.. the congregation i am attending now has a sister like that.

  p.s. I think we ALL have allergies to cigarette smoke... and for the benefit of any work place folks should not wear strong perfume or cologne. And AXE bodyspray should be banned... :P

  There was what LOOKED like a sister standing up giving a sermon, they were all fashionably dressed, there were no crazy whackos, there was a nice interracial couple holding hands...

  etc etc- hey, they look so good, why not go join up!

  ...I have to admit... I was in my Patchouli phase at the time those sisters were developing their "sensitivites"

  ... and I refused NOT to wear it! (cause I knew they were full of poo) What a brat I was! Tee hee!

  I always hear (on this forum) that people's panic attacks and other similar maladies go away completely after they stop going to the meetings, and more importantly stop being under the control of what they thought to be "the truth".

  yesidid- sorry if I came across as less than sensitive- I know that SOME people DO indeed get this and it is legitimate. But these sisters... it was always something or another. They were the ones that ruin things like Chrinic Fatigue Syndrome for those that actually have it.

  I really believe that if they actually had fufilling work and more exciting lives that they wouldn't need to come up with these sicknesses...

  Sorry if that sounds bad. I think that we all believe that some folks DO get these syndromes and others liek tons that we know at the hall, don't.

  Take the last hall you attended and compare it with your current workplace. I bet in the majority of the cases hardly anyone at work has "environmental sensitivities" and a boatload at the hall DO have "environmental sensitivities"...

  just sayin'.

  jeeeez. eye roll.

  There were these two sisters that developed "environmental sensitivities" or some such rot at the same time...

  They were always developing some syndrome or other, always sickly, but like, you kind of knew that they weren't, really...

  I listened to some thing on NPR the other day about "afflictions" such as those. They affect middle class, middle aged white women significantly more than any other group. This particular group seems to need some type of drama in their life, so it seemed from what the guest speaker had to say on NPR. Not a ton of money to do the activities that they really want to do and not poor enough to not have time for fakey illnesses (middle class); it seems to be less-than-fufilled, middle aged women that get these afflictions.

  Gosh- I really hope I never turn that direction...
