  That reminds me of the two mormon guys that pushed The Book of Mormon through my mail slot when I wasn't at home and then a couple of days later pounded on the door relentleslessly till i heard it in the shower and rushed down the stairs thinking something god-awful had happened only to look through the peephole, still dripping wet, seeing two bright sunshiney mormon men waiting to show me the wonders of the LDS. A bullhorn would have made things so much more convenient for all parties involved. ;)

  i will try to make a long story short.

  me and my wife (faithful jw) had a problem with an evil pioneer sister elder's wife in our former hall.

  through the course of trying to work it out we decided we would be better off in another hall.

  What do your kids say about shunning? Let's get a list going

  i talked to zachary (my 7-year-old) about shunning.

  i brought it up out of the blue, in the hopes of getting his real thoughts and not leading him into anything.. me: "hey zach.

  if god told you to never talk to me again, what would you do?".

  well, I don't have kids but I have a siamese cat. Just yesterday it got locked in the bathroom all day long while my husband I were at work. It was effectly shunned in a powder room with a toilet bowl for water and a small litter box to go in and no outside contact. The other cats couldn't see him because he had a door between them all. My siamese cat was effectively shunned.

  When I came home from work, I heard the forlorn (air raid siren-esque) cries of my siamese cat, begging for release, for someone to come and rescue him from his loneliness...well I opened the door and out trotted a very upset meezer, and my powder room was left in shambles. He tore up every single roll of toilet paper, destroyed the trash can and strewn plastic and such everywhere...he had gotten under the sink and pulled out all of my hair supply products and shredded anything that was left to be shredded.

  This is what my cat thinks of shunning. Oh, by the way, it took me an hour to clean up a room that's no bigger than a closet.

  i thought this was a good article and although it doesn't pertain to jws, it's very much in the forefront of just how much culpability these pastors/leaders of the congregations should have

  I agree completely...I know in a way it was a little off-topic because it concerned a baptist pastor, but if the authorities are beginning to hold relgious leaders culpable no matter what their relgion, then it does not bode well for the JW who have made it a running policy to cover up and protect these monsters.

  convention freaky memories

  sucking on lifesavers to stay awake.

  watching families eat meals during the session.

  the smell.

  My mom coming down with Heat Stroke at the Vet after sitting in the sun all morning session while waiting to be baptised. (No one thought to cover the baptismal area with a tarp, so on top of heat stroke and a hospital visit, she got sun poisoning too.) Double trouble!

  Those icky sausage sandwiches (very 'popular' in the south at the district conventions.)

  Watching witnoid families come up and clear out the consession table (I volunteered as at concessions for a couple years...most fun I ever had at the convention.)

  Finding all of the 'secret' passageways at the sports arenas we attended.

  Beating the living hell out of two girls behind the stage after they paid some witness kid to push my brother to the ground and kick him. (They had bloodied noses. I had righteous indignation and a sore hand. Fair trade by me.)

  Learning to sleep with my eyes open.

  What if Tyrannosaurus Rex still existed?

  zach (my 7 year old) and i were playing with his dinosaurs last night.

  he has a 2 foot long rubber t-rex with huge teeth and claws.

  i turned it to him, opened the mouth wide, and said "roar!".

  well then...I think all of us would be in a little bit of trouble, now wouldn't we? :)

  ::envisions kids playing out on the street corner...suddenly screaming breaks out, pandemonium ensues...T.Rex comes roaring down the street, scooping up kids, cars, mailboxes, jehovah's witnesses with their razory maws, blood and mail splattering everywhere, everyone screaming. What a riot::

  where i live, you can smell the odor of paper mills.

  it's a port city and people speak french here.

  i think the average age of people here is one of the higest in canada.. there is a shrine that attracts many tourists in the summer time.

  I live in a city where the largest shipyard on the east coast resides. I am surrounded by numerous military bases and just across the 'water' lies the largest naval base on the east coast as well. I live very close to the original capital of the colonies, and not too far away from a theme park that has been voted the "Most Beautiful Theme Park" for about 10 years running.

  :) Traffic sux here too...they've been performing construction on a section of the interstate where I live for over 21 years. It's the joke of the state, really.
