All these religions are in such a hurry to use the catastrophic loss of life in Haiti as a means to stroke their ego. Very Christian!

Gideon--He Questioned Jehovah
by sd-7 init is common, as a thought-stopping mechanism amongst jehovah's witnesses, to use phrases like "don't question jehovah" or "don't question the organization".
often, as evidenced in a recent watchtower study article, biblical examples are given like that of diotrephes, who opposed john in the first century, or korah, dathan, and abiram, who questioned moses' authority and were barbecued in the wilderness.
these are pointed to as examples of those who questioned jehovah and suffered condemnation or even death as a result.

Well, just to let you all know I did not turn green, as I asked the Christian God to do in order for him to prove he exists. So we have some possibilities: 1) he doesn't exist and the whole Gideon thing was just some made-up story, 2) he exists, but doesn't answer prayers anymore for some unknown reason, 3) he exists, but didn't like the cheeky manner in which I asked him, or 4) he exists, but he is way too busy with more pressing matters, like causing earthquakes in Haiti.

When they say "Shawangunk" they mean the Wallkill complex. The Shawangunk Mountain Ridge is about ten miles northwest-ish
of Wallkill... you can see the ridge from the complex. -

Gideon even went a step further than "questioning," he wanted PROOF that what he was doing was right. Why should we settle for less?
Hell, I want PROOF that You exist God, I want PROOF that the Bible is your word. Make me turn green tomorrow morning. If I turn green, I'll know you exist.

Jehovah's Witness warning: "Watch out for the movie Avatar".
by Cindi_67 inthis is an email i received from my brother in law:.
after discussing with our family and several friends about the popular movie avatar, and the prevalence of "avatars" on the internet, we thought that other friends might be interested in what we found in our family worship research, tell us what you think:.
merriam-websterdictionary - avatar: the incarnation of a hindu deity (as vishnu).

Remember that the supposed problems with the movie are irrelevant to the point of all this: to make average JWs make a choice between obeying the Watchtower and doing normal things. It's a method of behavior control, and every cult and fundamentalist sect uses the same tactic: force adherents to make small decisions contrary to their own reasoning, because getting them to make bigger decisions later will be easier.
How else do you think those FLDS wives and children leave their husbands and fathers who have fallen out of favor with "the prophet" (Warren Jeffs)? By a lifetime of being forced to decide between following their own intincts and thinking ability and obeying authority.

CIA Expects Terror Attack on US Soil Within Six Months
by leavingwt incia expects terror attack on us soil within six monthstop u.s. intelligence officials told congress on tuesday that the united states can expect a terror attack within its borders in three to six months.
cia director leon panetta revealed to the senate intelligence committee at an annual assessment of the nation's terror threats that al qaeda operatives are being sent here to carry out new attacks... panetta said that the group is using so-called "clean" recruits who have virtually no trail of terrorist contacts.. the hearing held tuesday comes amidst growing concerns that future attacksin the us could resemble that of the foiled christmas day bomb attempt in detroit, where umar farouk abdulmutallab tried to detonate a bomb in his underwear.
fortunately, the nigerian student only managed to set his pants on fire.

I'm sure there is much analysis over which incidents get reported and which ones don't. Afterall, none of us are naive enough to believe the information we get from any of our news sources hasn't been digested and processed for mass dissemination, are we?

I would have a hard time trusting anything that comes from the CIA, being that the very nature of this organization is so secretive and not subject to scrutiny and is heavily involved with manipulation of the masses and strategies that are designed not to be informative, but manipulative they are a secret government inside the government.
That may be true, but I think it's important to remember that successes in averting terrorist incidents are largely unreported since it would compromise further operations. So everyone hears about the Agency's falures, but comparatively few hear about the successes.

Your worst field service experience.
by littlebird inmy worst field service experience was this.. i didn't have a car at the time and so a pioneer sister was picking me up of service every couple of days.
she was my partner and i got a door where the woman was clearly not interested.
as i am stepping away the pioneer sister starts in with all the objection stoppers.

Getting shot at as a 16-year-old driving away from a rural not-at-home: Sucked.
Getting verbally abused by a house full of lesbians: Sucked.
Having the driver of our service car back over an irate householder's fence in the pouring down rain: Sucked.
Getting yelled at by redneck motorists as I street-witnessed: Sucked.
Having to ditch my bookbag as I ran from a rabid dog and leaping over the fence like a Kenyan athlete: Sucked.
Having a return visit at an old-people's home run by a family of mean Asians and having to negotiate for her SSI check with the establishment, picking her up off the street wandering around, and then driving her to various appointments all while actually being used by her because her grandson was in jail: Sucked.
Being forced to conduct the field service meeting as a very shy 13-year-old for all the pioneer sisters, even after faking illness and hanging out in the Kingdom Hall bathroom for as long as possible before my mom started pounding on the door for me to come out: Sucked.
Having the shits every single god-damn day out in service because I couldn't stand going up to talk to strangers all the time: Sucked.
