  the other day i told a member of my family, and they nearly went apeshit.. my question: what reprecussions could this reasonably have?

  does the wts speak of this in any of their publications?

  You have to think of yourself now.

  The only thing that concerns me is how this will affect my wife and her family who we are very close to. So far I have been able to stay inactive and on friendly terms with my wife's JW friends... things have been rosy up until now....

  Well, it sounds like I'm going to be DFd! I'm inactive, though, so I don't think my local hounders will catch up to me, UNLESS of course my family calls them and asks them to counsel me... which could very well happen.

  So, as some of you may be aware, I got a job offer with an agency under the U.S. Department of Defense. The other day I told a member of my family, and they nearly went apeshit.

  My question: what reprecussions could this reasonably have? Does the WTS speak of this in any of their publications? I don't have the CD Library anymore and really don't feel like going through their literatrash, so any help would be nice.

  Does anyone remember when the Watchtower website first opened, it wasn't mentioned in the magazines or at the meetings for a while?

  i seem to remember that from the mid-ninties onwards there were articles in the km and watchtower warning about the dangers of the internet.

  as a result it seemed to come as a bit of a surprise to some witnesses i knew when the society opened up their own website.

  but as i recall, when the society first opened the website, they never mentioned it in the literature or at the meetings.

  Yes, I remember that. It was almost as if they opened it just so they could tell a bunch of JWs to take down their own "JW" pages.

  Whether to hire someone depends solely on the characteristics of that person. I've known JWs with excellent and balanced work ethics and I've known some without those assets, just like the general population. Discriminating based on religion is, afterall, illegal. I would assume most business owners and managers would be awful careful about leaving themselves wide open to lawsuits.

  i am one happy clam!

  just got a job offer at almost 10k over my current salary plus another 10k after 2 years.

  it's with an agency that would afford me many more professional opportunities, transferability, and promotion potential, and, most importantly, provides excellent benefits and job security and comes at a time when i need an offer since my current company is closing soon.. also, one of the more awesome things is that this job is under the dod, so i can stick it to the watchtower!.
