Does Jehovah Intervene - JW Teaching
by thedepressedsoul ini have been a jw my whole life and i have never been able to get a clear answer on this question.
jw's do not believe that jehovah will intervene if someone is sick, dying or stopping a car crash.
they feel that jehovah is letting "this world" play out before he solves all of these problems.

Either Jehoover doesn't give a shit or his power is limited. All other theories involve some game between him and the Debil using us as pawns, like in Job's case. -

New Bethel Facility - Fort Lauderdale Remote Translation Office (RTO)
by daniel-p inhey all, it's been a long time since i've posted anything here.
this may be of interest to some people, or not.
and i'm not sure if this has been announced in the congregations, even, because thankfully i have not attended any meetings in quite some time.

Hey all, it's been a long time since I've posted anything here.
This may be of interest to some people, or not. And I'm not sure if this has been announced in the congregations, even, because thankfully I have not attended any meetings in quite some time. So, based on my Bethel contact(s), the sign language translation teams currently at Patterson are going to be relocated to a new "mini-Bethel" in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The entire sign-language department will be moving there in November of this year.
The buildings that will be used are currently being renovated--I believe they are already purchased by Watchtower. When complete, they will be an official Bethel facility and everyone there (approximately 40 souls) will still be considered Bethelites.
Why moving to Florida? As it was explained to me: there are lots of foreign language populations in the area and being nearer to these populations will allow the translation teams to keep in touch with evolving dialects and such.
So there you have it. Personally, I find it only mildly interesting.

Hello everyone. Been a while since I've posted on here. So I'm going on vacation tomorrow to spend a couple weeks with my hardcore j-dub parents and my brother who is a Bethelite. I'm solidly faded, and they know that, but I know that they will be talking about nothing but the NNWT(TM) for the entire time I will be there. My mother is in the JW temperance league so I will have to sneak sips of whisky when I can get it, in order to weather the dub-speak tempest.
I don't really have anyting else to say, and this probably isn't worthy of a new post, but just wanted to say to all the JWN "old timers."

"The excitement is PALPABLE"
by Separation of Powers ingot caught at the supermarket (in between the martini olives and snack crackers ) with several bottles of hard liquor in my basket along with some red licorice by a sister that has known me for years.
still respects me, not knowing that i am in full fade mode, or at least not recognizably knowing.
anyway, when she sees me, her eyes get all big and she heads in my direction, nearly ramming my liquor laden cart with her vegan oriented basket.. "hey sop, how are you doing?

Anyone who actually uses the word "palpable" in every day conversation deserves a smack upside the head.

New Blog Post: why did God seemingly allow Cain to get away with murder?
by adamah ini wrote an article on the topic of god's eyebrow-raising lenience shown to cain after killing his brother, exploring possible reasons why the account was written as it was:.

God made physical laws, like gravity and thermodynamics. Then he sat back and said "it is good." We know that that's all he cares about, because those are the only things that he enforces. We care about the laws that we make, not the ones that we don't make. So we care about our societal laws, because we made them. God, on the other hand, only made basic phsyical laws, and does not care about human societal laws, as is shown by his perpetual indifference and waffling on who he likes and doesn't like.
The only thing we have to really worry about, is if scientists decide to somehow break these physical laws, open up a time travel portal, drill down into the center of the earth and unleash Cthulhu, or some shit that goes contrary to those basic laws. Compare mass genocide and global warming. Mass genocide has happened, and will happen, without any retribution from God. He gives exactly two shits about mass genocide. Global warming, on the other hand, is serious business. Mankind is warming the atmosphere by tapping into ancient dinosaur remains buried deep in the earth, releasing a lot of carbon dioxide, and as we can see, hell is breaking loose. God is furious, and we will pay.
Abel's murder? He simply does not care. It made for good story-telling. Six million jews gassed and starved to death? "It is good," in his words. But as soon as we start using too much hydrocarbon-based fuel, he goes apeshit.

They take more pride in the NWT than anything else. It's their largest theological achievement, in their eyes. So I really don't think it has anything to do with changing their actual bible. If anything, it's got to be a new reference bible. Their current reference bible is a collection of key theological beliefs and explanations of prophecy and other bullshit, so they are probably cleaning all that up and updating it reflecting all the New Light (TM) that is now old light, slipping some New New Light (TM) in for shits and giggles, but leaving the actual biblical text alone. Probably a new format, smaller than the old reference bible. This is the safest, and likeliest option.
I really don't think they have the brainpower to pull off a substantive translation update. I could see them wanting to write a more "plain English" version, but being based on the same translation. Of course, I wouldn't put it past them to weasel in some language that strengthens their interpretations. This option is obviously more risky, but might have a bigger pay off in getting all these idiots excited.
Either way, we can bet on the fact that they will make it sound like a bigger deal than it really is and that it will have zero impact on getting new converts.
