I dont agree with that interpretation, and I don't even believe in the Bible.

Scriptures You Will Not Hear at the 9-04-06 Church Sermon
by scout575 in"he that despised moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the son of god, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the spirit of grace?
for we know him that hath said, vengeance belongeth unto me, i will recompense, saith the lord.
and again, the lord shall judge his people.

Were you a nodder?
by merfi inyou know.... one of those jws who nods slightly in agreement with a point the speaker makes?
i've seen this lots at assemblies etc but we do have a local nodder; we call her bonnie bobble-head cuz she reminds me and the kids of the bobble-heads for car dashes.

Oh yeah, in one congo I was in there were many black sisters who not only nodded, clucked, clapped, and whispered loudly to those beside them, but also muttered under their breath whenever the speaker said something especially enlightening.
It went like this:
"...and that's why we need to trust in the faithful slave brothers!"
"mmhmm, you said it."
No, I'm not kidding. I know this sounds horribly stereotypical, but you know what? I have learned that stereotypes are true. Anyway, it was hilarious. -

Aparently, he does not change, but I'll be damned if he didn't seem a bit more chill in the second half.

Worst/strangest bookstudy group
by Virgochik inok, i was reading the "worst bookstudy book" thread, and it got me thinking about the worst book study groups i went to.
once, my dad was study conductor and the study was held in an elderly sister's home.
there was antique furniture and doilies on the tables.

Man, you guys had some horrible experiences. Well, other than that one experience of the overtly sexual statement by an elder with a son who was a child molester (which I posted in the worst book study BOOKS thread), there were some akward experiences.
When I was a young MS (like 18-19 yrs), I had to conduct a lot because the conducter was sick much of the time. I ended up conducting about 60% of the time. During the beginging, when I didn't have much experience, I would have everyone in the whole group read scriptures (this was during the Greatest Man book), but I didn't realize that some were really bad readers and were very embarrased when I just assumed they would read a few verses. I did this a couple of times when someone said something and I felt really bad about it.
I always got stuck with the ones who did not comment at all. And then there would be this one girl who had seizures and I'd have to maintain some semblance of order during it all - one time I just told everyone we'd take a 10 minute break until things calmed down again. I actually enjoyed conducting studies in my later years because I was the one who kept it moving and didn't spend time asking the same question 10 different ways. I knew people liked that, because I had spent many a book study with people agonizing over every single dumb sentence the WT said.
I had been disliking it more and more though, as especially in the Isaiah books it was the same thing over and over (literally) week after week. -

"If the reason we suffer is to prove that humans are not better off without god, than the only way to prove otherwise is to leave humans alone. But instead of just letting us go he cuts our lifetime down to 70 years, he cursed the animals to be carnivorous, he confused our language, and cut back 1000 years of progress by making us start all over after the flood. How is satan supposed to be proved wrong if the human race suffers from godly sabotage every millennium?"
- Very smart reasoning, Lore. You'll find like-minded people on JWD, full of big bad evil apostates! If you need encouragement, just look into people's post history and see the progress they made from the day they came here. There are a lot of stages to this, but you're young and have your whole life ahead of you. Thankfully, you haven't wasted much of it. -

The death of the Watchtower pre-study
by slimboyfat inwho is old enough to remember when witnesses used eagerly to meet on a friday or saturday night to "pre-study" the watchtower in groups: reading paragraphs, underlining, reading scriptures (sometimes)?.
what happened to that, does anyone still do it anywhere?
i think witnesses are just not as enthusiastic about the "truth" as they used to be.

My favorite quote from a cartoon here on JWD: "The paragraph is telling us that we must trust in the paragraph!"
This is the reason why no one pre-studies their WT anymore - because the articles are dumb. -

Lemme tell you about some comment an elder made during a study with the Family book. The "you must stick to your wife" scripture came up and he made a comment about how after sex, semen actually sticks to the walls of the vagina for some time, and that this is a literal meaning of the scripture, besides many figurative meanings. I shit you not. That elder's son later pleaded guilty to molesting a girl in our congregation. The girl's mother DA herself. The elder's son was DF for a couple of years, reinstated, and now is back in the congregation, playing with all the kiddies. That single episode created about 10-15 apostates in the local town. Anyway, just an old memory of how fucked up that elder and his family was/is.
Oh yeah, and the elder of course stepped aside when his son was DF'd, but is now back as an elder. Doesn't Jehooker work in mysterious ways? -

The Daniel book. Chapter after chapter of how 2 scriptures apply to 3000 years of human history rates on the level of infinite absurdity. WT reaching for applicable prochecy at its finest.

Active Witnesses...... lets get a head count....
by ?me? injust wondering out there, who is still active?

just wondering, because we know who are the elders, or recently former elders and i usually seek their posts for some interesting comments... .

Just last month I could have said yes, but this month makes me officially inactive!!! Aww, yeah. I almost have a real life now! i am sooo excited! No more Saturday morning moments of aburdity in a car full of people who drive back and forth accross town doing drive-by's to get their time in! No more hoping you're not put in a car group with Sister-freakish-legs and her son, young Brother-pasty-face!
