  Here We Go Again: The Annual ``Behave! at Conventions" Harangue

  now that the gerontocrats have dispensed with their annual springtime campaign of blustering everyone away from the wine and bread, it's now time to for the yearly decalogue of decorum; an epistle to the clueless.. in the april kingdom ministry the old farts tackle their annual chore of getting their dubbies to somehow behave like normal, thoughtful human beings when let loose on the public away from their kingdom halls.. what do we find on page 5?

  ``reminders" to the rabble not to save seats; not to leave the premises during the noon lunch break, nor to bring booze or large coolers; to tip at least 15% to 20% when dining at restaurants.

  this, i believe is a first; they now feel they have to coach jws on just how much is considered apopropriate by ``worldly" (read ``normal") human beings.

  EXACTLY. When it comes to doing something they really want to do or going somwhere they really want to go - "what perfume?"
  I'm not saying there isn't any legitimacy to their claims of chemical sensitivity, but the experiences I've had reaffirm my belief that many of them use it as a psychological crutch.
  About the conventions, every year I get a kick out of the JW families who have obviously come out of the HILLS to go to the "big city" and stay at a motel and convention. I love seeing every awkward moment - when the classes collide!

  "Sorry. Taking the book was wrong. Plain and simple. There is no excuse for theft."
  It's a simple matter of ethics. In this case, the ENDS clearly justifies the MEANS to most of us. Why? Because taking a book isn't even that bad in the first place. I mean, I have a few books I never gave back to the city library - and I'm an upstanding citizen who pays his taxes! And we're talking about freaking CHILD MOLESTER policy which shows the hypocrisy and corruption of this disgusting, fraudulent organization.
  I cannot be justified in "stealing" library books (15 years ago - sheesh) but Richie's action can be justified 9 times out of 10.
  I don't want to say your set of ethics are infantile - but... I will. Your set of ethics are infantile and petty.

  What seem to you as attacks are people who have been hurt badly by the WTS. Like you, I thought most of what I saw were childish and silly arguments by disturbed people. We have all had our own experiences in the organization - some of us handle it in different ways.
  6 months ago I was in your position - without the depressed wife - but I was a very active servant as well with many privileges. My first post - I had no idea what I was doing.... Click on my name and then click on "post history" where you can read everything I've posted since day 1.
  
  And to answer your question "why am I here?": the same reason all of us came here. Stick around.

  I had this talk once, back in the hizzle. The WTS take on it is this: "did not defile themselves with women" refers to how the annointed did not partake in false religion. Of course, this kind of takes on different meaning when you think of how most of the 144,000 WERE a part of 'false religion.'
