"It seems to me you folks are worshiping the teapot instead of drinking the tea."
by BabaYaga ina friend just shared this quote with me.
he read it in "pass the jelly; tales of ordinary enlightenment" by gary crowley, in which the narrator makes witty zen observations as he wanders through his day.
while having a discussion with some jehovah's witnesses who came to his door, he tells them, "it seems to me you folks are worshiping the teapot instead of drinking the tea.

Here's my way of explaining it to them...
Number of times Jesus mentioned the Watchtower in the Bible - zero
Number of times Jesus mentioned homosexuals in the Bible - zero
Number of time Jesus said to love my neighbor- several
Number of times Jesus said I didn't have to be perfect just accept him as my saviour- several.
Now, who wants a beer?
That sums it up nicely!

Daniel what if:
teapot= Jehovah
tea=Jesus?
That futher obfuscates the analogy.

Two Governing body members who died since May
by EndofMysteries ini expect two things to happen soon, one for sure...... .
1. loads of new light, the many changes that are going to happen are evidence of new light, which is done when other gb members taking over lead use their own ideas, but it's really new light.. 2. if things get out of control with this new generation thing, the two who passed away will prob be the scrape goats for that false understanding, and no need to get rid of the apostacy since jah made sure it was taken care of.
(like ray franz for 1975, my whole family believes all those dfed were apostates who put that in the wt) funny how it was given in talks 4-5 years before ray franz was ever added to the gb ;).

The generational teaching serves the organization's pruposes regardless of who may have initially peddled it. The remaining GB members I'm sure will pick up the torch of self-preservation.

Tea = spiritual nourishment/enlightenment/relationship with God/etc.
Teapot = The religion or organization itself
Is that how you see it?

Help: What percentage of your income do you pay on rent/mortgage?
by daniel-p inso i'm trying to find a place to rent on the other side of the country, sight unseen.
i have a friend and real estate agent helping me, but it's pretty much a nightmare.
they've done several walkthroughs and sent pictures of some places, but things are looking grim.

We pay 7.5% of our salary for our mortgage and property taxes.
You must either live in Oklahoma or make a million dollars a year.

It has a smooth, non-bitter flavor, yet is rich and robust.
I'm sure it is, Sylvia, I'm sure it is.

I understand people paying more of their income on a mortgage since it's an actual investment (most of the time), but if we pay too much on rent then we won't be able to save adequately to buy a house, anyway. I think I'll go for the 31%, although even that is a little high for my tastes.

So I looked up Jamaican Blue Mountain... not too sure what the appeal is, but apparently, it's this really, really high Jamaican man in the mountains eating coffee beans, pooping them out, and then other people coming in and roasting them, sort of like that other coffee where people roast the pooped-out beans of monkeys.

One townhouse is in an okay neighborhood, not as good a location as I would like, but has a yard, 2 beds 2.5 baths, built in '86. The other one is a condo right in town at a convenient location, brand new, granite counters, the whole deal, 2 beds, 2 baths, pool outside, etc. The townhouse would cost me appx 31% of my gross pay, while the condo would cost appx. 34%. I had hoped to keep it down to the same as I am paying now, which is about 25%.
What do you think?
