Target - I got the very same response from my mother. I was SHOCKED to say the least. She had been a victim of molestation as a child, so I assumed that she would be outraged. Instead, she was infuriated at the witnesses who are "bringing reproach on the organization". I didn't even know how to react to her. My voice just caught, I am still shocked at her reaction.

Cold hearted JWs
by target init just amazes me.
i sent the articles on child molestation to a jw back in wisconsin and her response was "so?".
my son sent the articles to a jw couple he thought were friends and their response was that the victims should keep quiet so as not to bring reproach on jehovah's organization and then they went to the elders and accused my son and daughter-in-law of being apostates.. they can be so cold hearted and never miss a chance to back stab a best friend.. well, it did accomplish one thing.

Yes, the man confessed,to murder. Please shoot me an email if you want details of what has gone on.
I miss him terribly. We were children together in Florida as JW's and had stayed in touch before and after we were both DF'd. I just wondered if anyone had been close to him prior to his death. His parents won't talk to me and I talked to him more than they did. Very sad.

Bush briefed on hijacking threat before September
by ashitaka inwashington (cnn) -- president bush's daily intelligence briefing in the weeks leading up to the september 11 terror attacks included a warning of the possibility that osama bin laden's al qaeda network would attempt to hijack a u.s.-based airliner, senior administration officials said wednesday.
but, the officials said, there was no speculation about the use of an airplane itself as a bomb or a weapon, and no specific, credible information about the possibility of a hijacking of any sort.
hijackers took over the controls of four planes on september 11, 2001. two of those planes plowed into new york's world trade center, another jetliner nose dived into the pentagon and the fourth aircraft crashed into pennsylvania woodlands after passengers tried in vain to overcome the terrorists.

It seems to me like every single time something newsworthy happens, conspiracy theorist come out of the woodwork. 9/11 was the most awful thing that I can remember happening. I think Bush responded the best way anyone political leader could have. This media frenzy seems like nothing more than a political soapbox for the upcoming primaries.

What Counts As Knowledge
by HildaBingen inengrish has thrown down the gauntlet by insulting my people about iq.
besides fact that iq bogus, engrish overlook nother fact.. what is intelligence?
what is knowledge?

I must say I agree with AMarie. I too used to be a JW. I bristled a little at the comment that JW's are not intelligent generally. JW's are controlled, coerced, and mostly fearful of anything outside the org.
I consider myself to have been intelligent enough to leave the JW's. I also am more intelligent now as an ex-JW and yes, that is due in part, to more education. Part of that education came form college, but a lot of it came from experiencing life on the outside.

Not The Sharpest Tools In The Box.
by Englishman ini wonder how the average iq of most jw's would measure up to the average iq of non-witnesses?.
i think that they would rate less than most.
i say this because, having met up with a few still-witnesses recently, they just don't seem to be too prolific in the brain cell department.

I think you misunderstood English, he did not say secular IQ is more important than spiritual IQ. He questioned two things 1) If JW ability to reason (or use their brain) atrophies because their thinking is done for them or 2) If people with low IQ's are drawn to JW's. I think English brings up a couple of good points.

That is the least intelligent thing I have heard so far... Many people on this board are Spriritual, not controlled by an Organizatiion that tells them what to believe. Yes, many of us have gone on to get a secondary education, and appreciate it. That doesn't make us less appreciative of a higher power, or a divine education. I would venture to say that most people on this board consider education, the main reason they are here.
