how many of you guys are vegetarians?
in my personal experience, i've only known of two jw vegetarians, and both were so for health reasons.
so i'd like to see how the x-jw community compares.
Yes, vegetarian, but recently converted. My husband & I both converted for health reasons. I can tell a HUGE difference in how I feel too. I don't think I knew any vegetarian JW's in my day.
i wanted to hear the president's speech tonight, but can't stand listening to the man.
he has a prepared speech but he keeps saying nuc-you-lar instead of nuc-le-ar.
i can't stand it.. you would think his people would walk him through correct pronunciation.
While I don't particularly want to get in the middle of this political turmoil - Geoff Nunberg wrote an article on this "nuclear" issue if you are interested in reading it.

It's true, Bush mispronounces words pretty often. He isn't as slick behind the podium as Bill Clinton, but at least I believe what he's saying...
i started running in april of this year.
i decided i wanted to run the 5k in the race for the cure (breast cancer) in june.
i loved it and was able to run faster than i expected, about 28 minutes.
Congrats Rachel! I've been running for years and can tell you it's addictive. Nothing makes me feel as "high" as a good run. Steve and I have a Hood to Coast team down here in Portland. Maybe we can talk you into signing up for next August?

i am awaiting some material on how to free yourself from cult issues, and mind control.
i was wondering if any of your have read any good books on this, and if you find it has helped in your recovery after leaving jw?.
i am sure that the wt is not god's organization and all that goes with identifying myself as an ex jw.
Dede:
Releasing the Bonds, by is a good book. I really enjoyed it, it advocates thinking for yourself.
I found that after leaving the JW's I tended to be easily manipulated. Or, I guess a better way to explain it was I metamorphosized easily depending on who I was around. I had to Learn to trust my instincts and think for myself. It took me a while to figure out who I was; this book gave me some good exercises to do that.
the apostates here have so many wrong assumptions.
anyone that posts against them they assume is defending the society.. i'm neutral towards the society.
i don't defend it nor do i attack it.
Bomatt - I think Trauma pretty much sums it up....
Here's some reality, the WTBS splits familys apart, they turn they're back on victims of child molestors, they make false prophecy's, they lie to they're members, they teach false doctrines. How much reality do you want,
That's why most of us are angry at the WTBS....these aren't ASSumptions, they're facts.

i have to say i admire everyone who was strong enough to leave the wt organization.
alone these horrible stories about armageddon must scare the hell out of everyone who was brought up with it or who was in the org for several years.
hell even to me they sound really frightning and i don't believe in this nonsense.. secondly you loose most of all of your friends!.
Realist:
so how in the world did you get the strength to leave the org???
When I look back, I have no idea, I just did it. I reached my tolerance band and left. I didn't realize I had the strength until I was already gone. Once I was gone, it was hard; I mean really hard. All my friends and family were gone in one day, but instead of feeling despair, it pissed me off. I couldn't believe that there were no roots to those relationships. It still makes me shake my head, that my mom can be so distant from me and cold, and I'm her firstborn daughter!! That still hurts even after several years....
i kind of thought maybe he would change after becoming a jw, .
was, and how no boys would ever like me.
soon after that day, he asked me if i would like to babysit his 2 kids that weekend for an evening, as he and his wife were .
Vita:
I read your post first this morning, and it brought tears to my eyes, it also reminded me why we're all here. We're here to heal and to be supportive of each other. Something we didn't have the chance to do as JW's. Thank you so much for sharing your story..........

how many of you are totally, incredibly happy in your marriage?
how many of you feel that your spouse is your absolute soul mate and you couldn't even imagine your being married somebody else?
talking with the women at work, i'm surprised at how many are not totally happy.
Yes, totally happy. Steve is my best friend and I love him something awful. He's a good man and he's really smart, I respect him and he respects me. We've been married since 1997 and our relationship just keeps getting stronger. We live together, work in the same office and enjoying hanging out and doing the same things for recreation. It's awesome to find someone that you know you want to grow old with.
One of the things I appreciate about Steve is that he takes my JW past seriously and is supportive of what I need to do to heal. When we were dating he read Crisis of Conscience without my suggestion and did all kinds of research. He's a good guy!
Edited to spell my own husband's name correctly!
