It's going to be my first Christmas celebration for many years as well, and I admit to feeling a little strange about it, but I am going to have a tree and decorations. I don't have family in the jws, so their calling isn't an issue, and I have an invitation to dinner on Christmas Day, so hopefully I should be ok.

why celebrate christmass?
by Cordelia inok so its nearly christmass and i'm thinking of celebrating it for the first time, but i feel alittle wrong in doing so, i know all the witness reasoning of why its wrong and just wondered what your reasons are as to why its right!.
i have a 3 year old little girl and would love to make it nice for her (tho my family would go mad!
) im thinking of getting a baby tree (one that can easily be hidden!

Choices, if I could change only one.
by Fatfreek inif life were only like some rewriteable media -- rewind to where you'd change something, make a different choice, and proceed.
i'd go back exactly 50 years when i conceded, reluctantly, to study with the jw's alongside my parents.
i was some 15 years old and, admittedly, naive.

I too wish I had said "no thanks" to the jws when they offerred me a study. At the time, I had just graduated from university with an English degree, and wanted to be a teacher. I had a boyfriend who I thought I might marry and have children with, but he didn't share my enthusiam for the jws, and we parted, so I am now 46, never married and looking back on a life of unfulfilled ambitions, just because I decided to follow a dream.
If only........

A fun discussion to have
by 2112 inthis is the first thread i am starting, hope it works.
i remember being told over and over again "if you are in a religion that teaches everything about god 100% correct with the exception of one thing, no matter how small it may seem.
you must reject that religion as being poison.

Hi 2112, and welcome
I have heard jws apply that reasoning many times, and probably applied it myself, it must be very satisfying to use it on them.
You are not being harsh at all

Something I want to tell you apostates
by LeftBehind ini want you to know that you have destroyed a family because of your lies about jehovah and his organization.
a family member went apostate and has turned his back on jehovah.
he told us he is never coming back and i know he went and visited internet sites.

A friend of mine helped get me out of the jws, and I'll never be able to thank him enough for it. I hope I can help someone else in the same way one day.

Spinning wheel
by PoppyR inso.. i told my family something at least, ie that i was taking a break, my older brother who is an elder, emailed me and said i was not seeing things clearly because i was not recieving the spirit and in the middle of the organisation.
i understood what he meant, but replied by saying i could flip that around and say finally i was out of the spinning wheel i could see things without the blurs!
i mentioned to my husband about 607, in turn, and i think stupidly he asked an elder and another pioneer brother if they could explain it to him, the elder (who is one i'm very fond of) made such a hash of it and ended up saying it was one of those things we would need to wait until the new system for to ask those that were around!!!

Hi Poppy,
I too am having a lazy Sunday, no more schedule to ahere to, just do what I want when I want. I haven't been out for long, but I really look forward to sundays now instead of dreading them.
Good luck with your progress away from the lie

That is so hilarious, though obviously a spoof. If it were real, I'd pay to see it. I love this line:
"Help me! Help me! Some of that coffee got into my nose and mouth"
Unfortunately, the Mormons are a bit thin on the ground in this area, so it couldn't happen, still, ona can dream lol
