  Have you ever said " Happy Hanukkah" to a Jew?

  we went out to lunch today and when the server brought our check he wished us a merry christmas.

  my six year old daughter piped up " we celebrate hanukkah".

  when the server returned he couldn't get out a " happy hannukah" - he stumbled for words- finally said something about a happy holiday.

  Christmas Eve Elders Visit

  that's correct two jovie elders in suits stopped by my house last night at 5:00pm.

  i know both of them well and dislike both of them equally.

  what could have been going through their minds?

  I have heard they are doing some clear - up work, visiting all the inactive ones to ask where they stand regarding the borg. They won't bother me as I am da'd anyway, so they know where I stand, but I imagine a few faders will be getting surprise visits over the next few weeks. KH attendance is in general decline in this country, and has been for some years, so maybe they are trying to boost it by getting a few faders to come back.

  i came upon this letter, and i think it could be posted in laundromats, doctors offices, etc if you feel it is worthy:.

  who is knocking at your door?.

  most people have either been visited by jehovahs witnesses at one time or another, or know of them.

  I think that this is quite a good letter, and could be used quite effectively. We (dedpoet and me) are thinking maybe we can send it to the local newspaper. Also, there is nothing in it that the wt can actually deny.

  i have been following the board from a distance for a while, and have finally decided to come aboard ig y'all will have me... .

  i was a third generation jw, did the elder thing, rasied two sons in the troof......both are out now, and we've never been closer.. .

  is it me, or does it look weirder and weirder the longer you've been away??.

  Hi newcreation, and welcome

  I only left recently, after doubting what I was doing for a while, but even after such a relatively short time away I can't see how I swallowed it all so completely. I suppose the idea of living forever in paradise was a nice dream to follow, but that's all it was - a dream.

  I did at times, like the years I was pioneering. I seemed to be doing evrything right as far as the elders were concerned then. When I came off due to illness, though, they expected me to sign up again as soon as they considered me fully fit, and let me know that. My opinion didn't seem to count - I was a single sister, working part - time, and had no excuse not to pioneer. I never did go back to it though, I never felt up to doing so, and I always felt less respected because of that, though I auxillaried a bit and always did my best in service. Of course, the last few months before I left, I had no peace or joy, just constant criticism. The peace and joy only returned when I da'd.
