so my "bethalite" sister calls me last night for a chat (now i must digress slightly and say that conversations with my sister are few and far between - we have very little to say to each other and any calls to each other are merely out of duty) .
after all the small talk, she tells me that she was doing stocktake in the tuckshop for a change instead of the usual housekeeping job that she is meant to do.
i ask her why and she tells me that all the dept's within bethal who keep a supply of products have to do a stocktake in preparation for the big courtcase on friday.
Apparently if they don't win the court case, then JW's here will have a problem, because we have employment equity laws here and this would mean that there would have to be a quota of "Sisters" on the branch commitee and other "unscriptural" things
Oh, let's hope they lost!!
I wish the authorities here in the UK would bring the same sort of case against them

jw science blunders arent always the result of misunderstanding the working principles of the phenomenon being discussed.
sometimes theyre simply the result of not properly researching a secular quote that dovetails with the worldview of the jw leadership.

There was a time, and not too long ago, when I'd have believed every word of this and all the otherso-called "facts" that the wts published, however silly they seem now.
The problem here is that world population didn’t reach the 2 billion mark until the early 1930's. In 1918 the total world population was only about 1.8 billion persons. So even if we assume that every single individual on the face of the earth had been infected by the end of winter 1918-1919, (Which did not happen) we still fall short of the claim by about two million.
Such details never bothered the writers of this stuff. I expect they relied on no one bothering to check up on what they'd written, and I doubt any jw did.

it's been a long time since i posted on here, almost 3 months i think, but i know that trev has been keeping you all updated about me, as well as printing your good wishes for me.
i don't want to dwell on my situation, but want to say how happy i am to be posting again.
How was the shopping?
It was great to be able to go shopping instead of sitting around letting Trev do everything. It's equally great to be able to post on here again.
