i don't know if it is a good or bad thing but my view of jws has got dimmer since i joined jwd.
the reason i'm not sure is because i don't dislike the jws per se as i've met some good people but at the same time i feel more suspicious of these people's drive and motive - i'm talking about the ones i know personally.
i find that disconserting and uncomfortable.

I couldn't agree more with your points of looking at our own religion/beliefs rather than others.(Extract the rafter in our own eye.)
Also that the answers are within each of us. So true! It should be about our own personal experience with God/spirituality or whatever rather than a prescribed set of rules and doctrine.

how do i make that claim?
i will explain the reasoning but i need some help and quotes from the insight book if some of you can help me since i currently have limited access to jw literature.. the jw's believe that a global flood occurred and all mankind except for noah, his 3 sons and their wives survived.
that leaves only 1 family of the same language and nationality to "start over".. the jw's believe that some time after the global flood nimrod and others (there must have been many) sought to build a large tower - the tower of babel.
Notice what Genesis 10:5,20,31 says about Noah's sons at the end of the flood account----that they split up each with his family"according to
their tongues" (Yes I had to break out my NWT) Chapter 11 starts with a conflicting idea of the earth being of one set of words!
ever notice this about the so called anointed?
the ones i've met seem to think they have these powers especially with the scriptures and some brothers and sisters treat them as such.
i always thought this was weird and somewhat superstitious.
My ex-wife's grandparents (yes both of them) claimed to be annointed. The only special powers they seemed to have was a
narrowed-minded judgmental view of everything and the ability to seriously mess up their children.
I remember one story of when my ex's father was a little boy one of his young friends got killed in a ditch.
He tried to dig him out and couldn't. The annointed parents response to helping their child was to make him go in service the next day.

was df'd at 16 and hasn't talked to her family since, was there. It was wonderful for all of us to reconnect and help each other heal. After a long,
difficult year of leaving the Borg it seemed to make it all worth it. Some who were there are still in and can't get out but they were glad for the
encouragement. We even spent some time surfing this sight for laughs!

Beautiful explaination of what happens. I've heard it said that that the only way to an authentic life is to be free of the good opinion of other people. I never thought I could do this until leaving. I was called all those names and descriptions but somehow had an indifference that I never had before.
