Beginning the road out.
by wozadummy inyes i'm new to this forum and i have been searching the net and reading with interest peoples comments here and on other sites.
as most know reaching out as a faithfull jw to others outside of the congregation is difficult at first ,as i guess we think anyone outside the congregation is wordly etc.
and we can't open up easily to "strangers" as jehovah would not approve.

Do you know of gross mistranslations in the JW Bible (NWT)
by greendawn infor all you that have studied the subject what are some big distortions of the original scriptures hebrew and greek, that are to be found in the jw bible (nwt)?
i found that at 1 thessalonians 4:15-17 it says that the living christians in the final days will be snatched up as soon as the dead ones get resurrected.
that blows up the jw belief that the said resurrection occured in 1918 because they weren't taken up at the same time.

Using the term "undeserved kindness" in the place of "grace" is one of the most offensive interpretations of scripture the NWT contains to me.
Who wants a gift that is undeserved?

One last act of separation
by jeanniebeanz inwell, i was cleaning out the last of the boxes from our move to texas and i came across my old new world translation.. i stopped and looked at it for a while, leafed through the pages to see the notes, hastily scribbled during some talk or another, little pieces of my life and world... some of the comments triggering memories of conventions, or relatives, mainly though, triggering feelings of... nothingness.. nothingness... that is what my time as a witness has boiled down to.
years of my life offered gladly to an organization that i believed would show me, and those whom i loved, the way to a better life where there would be no, "sickness, death or suffering" all meant nothing.. it used to make me mad or sad thinking about these things, but now there is just nothing.. not even when i think about my dad.
i used to get so upset at having lost him; i'd cry and hope that he'd see the light and leave the organization.

JB,
I hear you girl. I have days of that nothingness myself, not good or bad just empty.
I wonder about my parents as well--I'd like nothing more than to see them out, but they've built their lives around it. Where would they go?
Makes me think of a CSN song:
You of tender years can't know the fears that your elders grew by
So help them with your youth, they seek the truth before they can die
Best wishes on putting it behind you and moving on!

Yikes! Propaganda everywhere
by joelbear infrom the watchtower to commercials to talking heads on the news shows.
everyone wanting us to share their point of view.. they want our minds, our money, our votes and our mouths to spread their propaganda.
propaganda controls the cultural and social order of the world.. it takes more time to read, listen to thoughful educational programming and do research, so 99% of people just follow the.

I like what ee cummings said: " To be yourself in a world which is trying it's best, night and day to make you someone else, is to fight the hardest battle any human being can fight and never stop fighting."

Does the new "Bible Teach" book mention the "Faithful and Discreet Slave?"
by truthseeker indoes anyone know if this new publication teaches the "faithful and discreet slave doctrine" and if so, does it pertain only to jehovah's witnesses?

I'm thinking about putting together a chapter of "What Does the Bible Really Teach" each week when it's studied at the book study and e-mailing to my family and friends... Anyone want to collaborate?

All of the things going on that everyone is indicating is good as far as getting people out. They're much less likely to question anything if they feel alive and fulfilled. It was the total lack of anything spiritual that led to me leaving.
I think one of the reasons for this lack of zeal is that as a human race we're evolving and growing and need deeper answers than we used to.

Kingdom Melodies Mental Block
by Nosferatu inokay, there's what... 225 kingdom melodies (in the 1984 songbook).
when we were in, we sang these 225 songs, some of them many many times over.
yet, i can't remember the words to a complete kingdom melody.. however, i've listened to blue oyster cult's "agents of fortune" album many times, and i can remember pretty much all the lyrics.. perhaps kingdom melodies are the ultimate collection of lullabys.. you make known, that the truth izzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

You gotta love the line about " bees that were molested"
And this:
All things we do to please our God;
The world we've left behind.
The unbelievers think we're odd,
But this we do not mind. -
