i can't think of many benefits of growing up a a dub but i do remember that i always viewed the other dub kids as brorthers and sisters and they became my support system amongst the "worldly people".
i remember going into a new neighhood or a new school and knowing that once i met the dub kids there, i would automatically have friends and i would not be alone.. this was especially comforting to me because i was an only child, and many times i entered into a new school not knowing anyone and sometimes being the only black kid in the class, my dub peers made me feel welcome and accepted me into the circle immediately.. for many years i feel special to be part of this worldwide brotherhood, and i am sure it is the reason why now i am inafriad of changes and/or new surroundings.. did you have similar experiences?.

to be GOOD no they aren't perfect but most of them try to be good. I learnt alot about honesty and did improve my reading skills as a child from actively reading the bible. (even tho most everyone else understands it better) than me. Other things include

lol I recently was offered a study but was told the same thing that in six months if I wasnt considering being baptised that the study couldnt continue. Right off the bat it seemed like the brothers where not in it for the long haul? The brother also mentioned Bloodguilt for brothers that take a study and the person does not get baptised.
This policy seems to be like it is setup so that more magazines will be published/placed rather than giving a through knowledge to people that are interested.

i find that when i tell a person exactly how witnesses think and why they believe in things the certain way they do, it feels good!
listening to myself express the craziness of the religion makes me abhor their practices and mind control.
It makes me feel better 'sort of'. Just wish there where more people interested in healing from discussion rather than (technical/biblical/atheist/pagan) arguements.
The fact that not many people discuss the positive things that came out of their experience with JWs is kind of saddening. Realizing that people often come here with alot of pain due to loosing their entire family (Like Me) it is nice to know your not the only person this has happened too.

oh my god it was so much fun.

whether it be jehovah whoever how many believe there is a supreme being and remember if you believe there is god then you must believe there is satan right??

I know what you mean and that way sometimes too.. and always have to remind myself that it is not a huge deal for the most part the whole world knows these celebrations are just a joke or an excuse to interact with others (there is no santa claus etc..) I never go out of my way too participate BUT if am invited I participate so as not to insult anyone because of my beliefs (over the technical reasons). I raised a daughter now 18 with some education about the truth of celebrating (according to WTS) and the bibical reasons for not doing it. My kid went out trick or treating every year. Sometimes the world even is so aware of this being a night that people do evil things (like posion apples etc..) that kids even know that this night is something to be cautious about - over and including the biblical facts or wrongness of it your kids will eventually know if they want to celebrate of there own accord or at least mine did.

LOL legolas, thanks for being so friendly and welcoming me to tha boards! very cool dude! Jgant The Watchtower society has done you a great evil, to not recognize God's great love and care for you. I was always told that jehovah knows the hairs on our heads and has names for every grain of sand on the beach theres a scripture about it not sure where tho.. It only makes sense that he would care about us :)

How many of you actually believe in GOD without a doubt? I belive in jehovah and will always call him that (what could that hurt). Although I am not a firm beliver in ALL of the WTS doctrine, I have learnt that faith is one of the most powerful motivators and healers that you can practice. whatever you do dont loose faith becuse of incorrect doctrine, mens works, pride or anything else. Then you must believe there is Satan right?? There is good and evil right? Yes I belive that satan exists and that many worship him. I also feel that WTS uses satan's existance to FRIGHTEN us into beliving there doom and gloom apocolyptic senarios. For instance there are many many documented accounts of demons, exorsisms and so forth... Consider that the catholic church does not just throw it around lightly THEY DOCUMENT IT.. unlike the WTS which uses undocumented urban ledgends to terrifiy people, especially small childern eg- the smurfs are possesed. Last question are any of you still not sure about celebrating halloween tonight? I went last night to a party thats about it as far as halloween goes. For years and years I either excluded myself from "clebrating" or felt really guilty about it... now I am just along for the ride where life takes me,, if I get invited to a party I will go. if not I dont feel bad about it either :)
