Those subliminal messages are too funny!!! Funny that those people smoking on the cover are actually witnesses posing....I wonder if they will be enticed by the devil with that smoke... - Chris.

beliefs I thought were unique to JWs because they had holy spirit
by demeter inthis forum rocks.
i like it very much.. i want to talk about something that i have noticed since leaving the jws.. i thought the ideas about the millenium, armeggedon, invisibility of christ's presence, etc were inspired as truths given only to the anointed to pass on to the faithful witnesses.
the parousia idea was an idea borrowed from a preacher named miller when one of his apocalyptic prophecies failed to come true.

the funny thing is... JEHOVAH"S WITNESSES ARE STUPID!! ha ha take that...
wait, let me rephrase that the WTBTS is STUPID!!!
Yeah well....the WTBTS sure treats the average JW as if they are Stupid - thats 4 sure.

WHAT DUB THINGS WILL YOU NEVER FORGET?
by Mary innow as much as no one wants to admit it, we all know that there are things we learned in the borg that we'll never forget even if we live to be a hundred.
what is something that you know you'll always remember (despite your best efforts to forget!
for me, it's matthew 24:14 and the names of the three hebrews thrown into the firey furnace (shadrach, meeee-shack and a-bed-we-go)

Fascinating chat with my neighbor
by Lady Lee ini had a little chat with a neighbor tonight and somehow we started talking about fanatical religious people.
she started telling me about a priest she used to know that was fleecing members of the church and got away with a hefty sum of money.
well isn't this down my alley???.

Thats really an interesting story...
I was always opposed (secretly) to the unloving act of disfellowshipping.
It just doesnt make sense, nor does it add up with verse.

If raised JW - or in while young - how strict were your parents?
by Jamelle ini'm just curious to know where my parents register on the scale of strictness...
growing up, i felt absolutely smothered by my parents (mostly my mother).
the things i couldn't do were above and beyond the limitations put on the other young people in our hall.

Its amazing how many stories here are alike.
Talk about living the same lives.
I guess our parents were convinced these things that the Society said was true and for the good of the children.
Why are they so harsh on kids?? Doesnt make sense?? Wouldnt that make them leave when they grow up?? I dont think too many embrace it when they grow up and have a mind of their own - even though it took me until I was 35 I did finally see it.

A funny way to stop the door knockers!
by caz inmy last 2 posts have been so sad that i thought i would tell you about something that i remembered once when the jw"s came a calling.
i guess it would have been funny if it wasn't so darn embarassing!
when i was younger i was trying to 'get fit' and had taken to doing aerobics in my loungeroom.

A very similar thing happened to me when I was knocking on doors...I was so embarrassed I didn't know what to do so I just kept on doing my presentation and politely left after she said no - not interested.
