  If and when Holt gets a trial...

  presuming he does get a trial.... would the fbi or police, prosecution or defense teams look into whether the elders may have known about his child porn?

  would they look at why he stepped down as an m/s?.

  i am imagining that if they do, and they do find that the elders had knowledge of his predilictions could this be yet another bad turn of events for the wt?.

  You can bet Watchtower legal is not happy with this situation.

  Absolutely - and the great local JW public relations sunshine pump has Watchtower Legal's fingerprints all over it.

  I agree that the police will try to investigate all possible connections - but I still doubt that the elder's involvement will make it to the trial, or that the elders or the society will ever face any liability over this other than the remote possibility of a civil case.

  I do not think that this was a death penalty state - but he will almost surely get life, likely without parole.

  BTW - everybody who had one of those Citroen/Maserati SM cars emphazied the "Maserati" part because the car was such a dog.

  Champion skier of the day Jean-Claude Killy also had an SM.

  Ha!, Terry - I will post that on Historic British section of the Ferrari board.

  Everybody there said that this was pure urban legend - but everybody remarked on how pretty the E-type coupe was, along with Ms. Birkin.

  Especially Ms. Birkin.

  One - who knew something about them - had this to add:

  John B was the composer of the famous James Bond movies theme.
  
  Jane Birkin...wasn't she singing with Serge Gainsbourg on the (in)famous Je t'aime, moi non plus? Caused quite the stir when it came out.

  a long time ago the jw's published a book called "humans in search of god" (translation of the dutch version so i am sorry if the title is not totally correct).

  i always remembered one sick drawing in it and it always made me wonder how this drawing could be used in one of their books.. .

  warning: can be shocking to people who never saw it before!.

  i stumbled upon this site and told my sister about it.

  then, sometime later she started discussing things with me that's she has seen or read (she's in therapy, as well, which probably has made her kind of rethink things).

  Welcome to the forum, Left in the Cold. Very typical story - the total abandonment by the witnesses of their members who face serious problems.

  I would take some time to think over the idea of getting reinstated before fading away.

  It sounds to me like you have already decided to leave, so that might be the best direct course.

  Your real friends and family will accept you as you are no matter what the "official" witness position is.

  Those not your real friends will treat you as disfellowshipped no matter what your status when you eventually leave.

  i have been re-reading chapter 10 of ray franz's brilliant book "in search of christian freedom" (must reading for every borean-like jw and former jw), and i note that on page 315 it says that in 1995 there were 36,638 disfellowshipped, and 37,426 deepfried in 1996.. are there any statistics that show whether the number of expelled persons is increasing or decreasing proportionate to the number of publishers each year since then?

  a email has been going around the witness community explaining how prophecies are falling into place concerning the wild beast.

  aparantly the un's motto this year is "peace and security" 1 thes 5:3 "whenever it is that they are saying peace and security then sudden destruction is to be instantly upon them just as the pangs of distress upon a pregnant woman aand they by no means will escape".. according to this scripture the "end" should already be here since peace and security has already been declared by the un; i do wonder if this was done on purpose as a slap in the face to wtbs, due to them gb declaring the un a wicked and destable thing.. i would love to hear your thoughts on this matter.. honeybucket.

  My views:

  I think he will almost certainly get a trial. I cannot imagine the prosecutor allowing this notorious case to be pleaded down unless he simply pleads guilty to the highest charge.

  I expect that there will be an insanity plea offered.

  Whether or not the child porn issue is allowed into court is up to the judge - whether or not the elders knew about it would most likely be immaterial to the murder trial itself...but could, of course, come up in a civil trial if the woman's family should attempt one. (very unlikely)

  This will all be forgotten in time without a civil trial against the society - and for that, we have no idea if a case really exists.

  It will not, in my opinion, result in another Candice Conti landmark case.
