Only a fourth century Pope can decide what is in the Bible and what is not.
Even the Watchtower Society has to respect the judgement of the fourth century Pope.
why do christian religions continue to pretend that the hebrew scriptures (aka the old testament) is god-inspired and that it describes a loving god?
don't they see that the ot is largely an embarrassment to its believers?
please read my blog to see why i think christianity should dispense with the ot all together:.

my latest blog is the sequel to "dispensing with the hebrew scriptures":.
http://smmcroberts.net/blog/abridging-the-christian-greek-scriptures/.
it argues for an abridgement of the nt similar to what thomas jefferson accomplished with the "jefferson bible".. i intend a third and final article in this series, so please don't assume that i regard abridging the nt as the last word on the subject..
Are you going to do one on the Book of Mormon?

i've been lurking around here for a while, so i feel like i know most of you already.
its been a rough 20 years getting here, but now here i am.
Welcome!
are you trying to earn salvation by your door-to-door ministry?no.
we engage regularly in our door-to-door ministry, but we dont believe that we earn our salvation by doing such work.
(ephesians 2:8) why not?.
I saw what you did there - That was NOT the beer fairy, Outlaw.
we all have somebody we are crazy about that almost everybody can't stand.. if you mention their name your companions give you that "look" (ya know the one, like you just got caught picking your nose!).
i was thinking about this the other day.
i was truly curious if i'm mental or if everybody has a guilty pleasure list like i do.. i'm just going to assume we all do until you set me straight.. if you attach a photo and short explanation about why you like these pariahs it will be more meaningful.. .

"...jonathan holt, 24, a neighbor of heichel and a member of the same jehovah's witness church, appeared via closed-circuit television in clackamas county court wearing a suicide smock..." read cable news report of full story complete with photographs.
very excellent investigation.. http://abcnews.go.com/us/murdered-barista-whitney-heichel-raped-shot-times/story?id=17534209#.ujvk-w-hk8b
It would be interesting to know if the reporter above has tried to interview the elders of that congregation, and what response she got from them - right, Undercover?

Have you had an interview with his wife, LynnTerry?
I have not seen anybody here on this ex-JW forum who was formerly acquainted with him directly.
can you, awsome peoples, please help me with grasping when and how did sin get introduced in the picture?.
i am not talking adam/eve and the serpent thingy.. i am going way back, following the chain of events.. seems to me that the very original sin was satan's rebellion against god.. if so, how did satan get this idea in a first place, how was he even able to have the concept of disobedience.... .
thanks in advance to all contributors..
Wasn't the mythical "first wife" of Adam (Lilith) an invention of Jewish mysticism with connections to original sin?
I heard the notion that she might have been viewed as the true originator of sin because she would not follow Adam's lead - and that she later became a sort of underworld queen of darkness in legion with Satan (or the Serpent).
I have always pictured her as looking something like Catherine Zeta-Jones.
have you ever read "no blade of grass," "on the beach" or "the satan-bug?
" i have a feeling it wouldn't hurt to reread those old novels.. folks around here argue about gmo foods, for instance, without realizing that one of the main problems with gmo is lack of diversity, dangerous if a disease comes along that kills the main crops of the world.. and people seem to have forgotten that humans could indeed destroy themselves completely, if someone starts a nuclear war.
they always seem to think there could be survivors of an all-out nuclear war.
Agreed. By the way, have you ever read the book, "Reagan's War" (Peter Schweitzer)?
No, I have not Bobcat. I may look for that the next time I pick up political history books at the library.
Another one along this line is "The Cold War as History" - I don't have the author at hand here at the office.

There was a lot of attention paid to the so-called C-B-R (Chemical/Biological/Radiological) shielding and protection of the tanks and other vehicles. We believed we had the better systems because the tank crew did not have to wear masks inside the vehicle.
Without saying who would use what first, it was pretty much a NATO foregone conclusion that tactical nukes would be in use by both sides once the first one went off.
I guess that from the Russian viewpoint, it was more a question of whether we would try to take Hungary, Poland, and Yugoslavia than it was whether they would try to take W. Germany.
But it is my opinion that they WOULD have taken Western Europe right up to the seashores of France if it had not been for the tactical nuclear standoff - up until the Reagan bluff ended it all.
