JW's are refrigerator magnets.......
by Lied2NoMore inwt has deified the a/c outlet as "god".
the cord carrying power from the outlet to the refrigerator is the "gb" .
the inner workings that make the freezer and cooler, well...."cold" are the legal dept, writing dept, and to save ink, the wt "bureaucracy" that stores and dispenses "food at the proper time".... and the body of the refridgerator which insulates and embodies all the contents of said refigerator is the "organization".... loyal jw's simply need to "stick" themselves somewhere on the refrigerator, or "organization" wherever there is room, and salvation is assured.. so its a large refrigerator, because some 7 million have affixed themselves to the "organization" or "cooler of salvation"........ but as you look on the floor, several have fallen off, and more have been peeled off by wt df / shunning policy.. so watch your step, someone may get trampled!.

I think the refrigerator magnet may be one of the most important windows into the mind of the JW or ex-JW.
Although my refrigerator is stainless steel (which is non-magnetic), it has black painted side panels of regular steel.
I had a look at what kind of magnets we have collected over the years: especially, I like the sculpted ones -
Skylines of both New York and San Francisco, a KittyKat dipping into the goldfish bowl, a drain doctor service truck, and a strange Black & Yellow Picasso Triggerfish.
I agree with the premise of the post: JWs are indeed refrigerator magnets.
This thread is profound.

How many people die because of the Watchtower politics on blood, transplants and vaccinations?
by TJ Curioso inthere are some numbers about this?.
-
james_woods
I think it would be difficult to quantify this number. There are many deaths that occur without much fanfare.
In addition, there are those situations where the patient possibly would have died, even with blood.
Yes, that is true. However, I think we can safely say that it is far more than TEN TIMES the number who died in Jonestown...perhaps a hundred times more if it really is 50,000.
Which is, of course, way the hell too many.

The only fault that I can see with this logic is that refrigerator magnets do not fall off if you unplug the refrigerator.
However, they will not attach themselves to stainless steel refrigerators.

We just love this new idea
by Separation of Powers init is probable that if the domestics include the great crowd (other sheep) and the belief is that no fds can be proven to have existed from the death of the last apostle until the reestablished fds in 1918, that most believers from the death of the last apostle or the "dawn" of the 2nd century as the article puts it, will soon be considered other sheep.
the wheat and the weeds articles makes it a point to use a particular expression.
it uses "overgrown" where the parable uses oversown.

I actually think that this notion (no annointed except for the very early first followers all the way to 1919) may in fact be eventually proclaimed.
As was noted - it would be a quick (but temporary) fix for the increasing numbers of partakers.
On the other hand - it is just another bumbling action to paint themselves into a corner:
Christians over the 19 centuries were "Other Sheep" - but they just did not know it! Because, of course, the earthly hope and the other sheep were not invented until the 1930s.
Ludicrous.

The worst suggestion for the prevention of pedophilia. Make it legal
by wha happened? inthis was definately a wtf moment when i read this:.

I really think that 16 is too young for "age of consent" - 18 is plenty young enough.

Russell and the Miracle Wheat Scandal
by Wild_Thing inhe truly was a crook, wasn't he?!?
i found this article on the brookly daily eagle website reminiscing about this scandal.
evidently, the newspaper outed him on this scheme and printed a cartoon of russell and his miracle wheat, and so russell sued them and lost!
-
james_woods
“It was styled ‘Miracle Wheat,’ and it was asserted that it would grow five times as much as any other brand of wheat.
How could anybody believe that one "special" wheat hybrid could produce FIVE TIMES as much produce as any other brand?
Fifteen percent more would be a fantastically good number!

If there is such a thing as ORIGINAL SIN what does that do to "morality"?
by Terry in"it is the concept of original sin that negates morality.. if man is guilty by nature, he has no choice about it.. if he has no choice, the issue does not belong in the field of morality.
morality pertains only to the sphere of man's free will -- only to those actions which are open to his choice.. to consider man guilty by nature is a contradiction in terms.".
augustine had the mistaken view that many metaphysicians had at that time: all humans were "nested" inside of adam like those russian dolls that fit inside each other.
-
james_woods
Perhaps now that the human DNA has been mapped, it will someday be possible to locate the "inherited sin genome".
It would be interesting to know if we share it with the Neanderthals and the Denisovans - were those related branches "free of original sin"?
It further brings up the question - did Adam's DNA spontenously change when he voluntarily sinned?

The self-made PARADOX of "witnessing" without Television or Radio
by Terry inwhat if i asserted the following as true?
the watchtower bible and tract society has no interest in an effective evangelical program of conversion.. .
would that sound silly?
-
james_woods
I agree with the premise - that is, the Witnesses do not really have the purpose of gaining converts behind the door to door obsession.
However - I have one question:
Do we have any solid evidence that Television or Radio would actually gain significantly MORE converts?
Most of the TV/Radio preachers that I see are just soliciting contributions - not really gaining large numbers of church members.
