It's OK to Lie to Get Someone to the Memorial....
by Prisca ini was always told to tell the truth, even when i was "in the truth", but apparently that doesn't matter when it comes to dealing with non-witnesses :.
let's see what one wol says :.
my sister is inactive and haven't been to the hall in over a year; won't go.

Just read the WOL thread you posted the link to. Oh my God...reminds me why I left my studies. As I read, the bile rose to the back of my throat and I came close to vomiting. What a perfect example of the prversion of Christianity.

Oh happy days!!! I'm so happy for you :)
That's the only thing I regret about giving up romance....The chance to have another baby before I turn 40. Congrats on the blessed event. I'm sure your daughter will make a great big sister. By the time the baby is three or four you'll have built in babysitter ;)Ciao,

Life After Armageddon
by CoolBreeze inthis was one of many aspects of my studies that gave me real problem.
i figured out that there was no way i was going to be in any %0.01 survivor group.
and if i was; all those rules and restrictions wouldn't really make it a paradise on earth for me.

This was one of many aspects of my studies that gave me real problem. I figured out that there was no way I was going to be in any %0.01 survivor group. And if I was; all those rules and restrictions wouldn't really make it a paradise on earth for me. After all, if you are one of this hypothetical %0.01 you were probably a pioneer or missionary, and your entire life was spent spreading the TRUTH door to door. You know the kind...40-50 hours of field service each and every week. More miles on their minivan than anyone in the car group. Goes through more pairs of shoes than anyone in the cong.
Now think about it....the only people left alive on earth are these people and a few elders. None of them has ever held a real job (If they did, they wouldn't have had the time to put in the preaching work required to get to paradise). So now no one has any real skill except the preaching work, and shepherding the flock.
All the productive workforce in the world will have been wiped out.
The Whore of Babylon will have been slain...gone will be the teats that have nourished the faithful JW for so long....gone will be welfare...food stamps..social security..the helping hands of brothers not quite faithful enough to be part of the great crowd. Will Jehovah send down angels to teach these single minded automatons how to support themselves?I don't know about you folks that doesn't sound like the kind of paradise I'd fit into. I like the idea that we all gotta shot at heaven. Just follow the golden rule. Try to uplift others thereby elevating your self by their association. Realize that perfection is unattainable in this lifetime and perhaps something closer to it can be realized in the next. I believe the journey from this world to the next is infinite with possibilities and not a narrowly defined corridor the WTS would have us believe.

When circumstances change so do behaiviors. I used to be a very emotionaly reserved person. I was raised to be very non-demostrative, no hugs, no kisses, especialy in public. I'm still not very confertable with public displays of affection, but I do lavish hugs and kisses on my kids because with them it just feels right. Maybe it's because other than them I've never realy loved anyone before.
When I seperated from my ex-wife, the thought of being a weekend dad, or even worse an uncle dad as so many of my contemporaries were, drove be to the brink of a nervous breakdown. The floodgates of a lifetime of emotional repression came crashing down. I literaly cried for about 36 hours. It was like I felt every sadness and letdown I had repressed for 34 years of my life. Those flodgates are gone forever now.
Now when I experience sadness, and even happyness sometimes the tears come freely. Not in public so much, but when I'm in the company of those whom I'm comfertable with.
Crying is not an ability, but a natural reaction. Supression of this reaction is an ability, one that for better or worse I seem to have lost. Just my two kiams worth.

Hi patio34,
Sumerian Mythology is sort of a hobby of mine. Below I've listed a link that takes you to pretty good FAQ on the subject.

Hi All,
The title of this thread was one of the stumbling blocks of my study. As a single full time father(with no time for dating)of a soon to be tenage son this was a major point of imprt to me. The point came up during a discussion on porneia(sp?). My study guide told me that Jehovah considered masturbation to be an unclean act and therefore a sin. I asked him to show me scriptural evidence. He showed me all sorts of scriptures regarding sexual practices that Ja dissaproved of(mostly Hebrew scriptures). Although some of these passages were quite explicit as to what practices were to be abstained from such as homosexuality, bestiality, and so on; not once was masturbation mentioned specificaly. My question to him was "If Ja set forth so many rules governing just about all aspects of sexual relations, then why would masturbation not be specificaly mentioned as a sin?" Needless to say I did not receive any sort of meaningful answer. I'm happy to say that I now advise my son that masturbarion is a normal healthy way to release sexual tension, as long as it is done dicsretely and in private. I follow that advice myself. As I said I don't have time to persue a romantic (sexual) relationship at the moment. I just wanted to get some input from some of the wonderful folks on this board, especialy those who were raised in the org and now have children aproaching puberty. What do you tell them about this subject? I'm looking forward to your replies.Ciao,
