I love this line, I think that's SO True, when you truly love someone, even their imperfections are something you can smile about and you wouldn't change a thing. It's hard to find, and sometimes when you do, it's not returned and you have to have enough respect for yourself to realise it's better to let that go than try and hang on to something that just isn't making you happy.

i had dinner tonight with my jdub family.
my sister commented how their congregation is shrinking by leaps and bounds...they are getting about 50 people attending the watchtower/public talk on sundays.
one of their elders is moving out of the area and rumors abound they may merge with another cong due to low attendance.
Interesting this 'merge' thing I see mentioned here more and more, it happened to my local congs, 4 into 3. In the UK the only field that is growing is the 'foreign language' one... and think about it, if you came to a strange country, felt unwelcomed and unsafe... what better way to establish a sense of community than meeting with people who speak the same language as you?
Give it time, it will go the same way as the English speaking figures.

the literature servant told me that their instructions are to only give one study wt per publisher starting with the january 1st, 2008 issue.
under no circumstances are they to provide any other copies (if lost or whatever, much like kms are provided now).
any guests attending the wt study will be provided a copy, but then the servant who gave them the copy must confiscate it after the meeting.
The major flaw in this argument is, how can you study your watchtower if you dont have one? So more than publishers would need their own copy, every family member would, and also new and interested ones.
I do think the WT is paranoid, but come on... they must know we have ELDERS on this board, we'd get the information out even if they were meeting in locked rooms and changing the location every week!

however, this link is for the 2006 stats which were published in the february 1st 2007 watchtower.. as made clear in an earlier thread, i'm looking for the 2007 stats which, for the first time, will not be published in the watchtower but which will be confined to the 2008 jw yearbook and our kingdom ministry insert.. are those stats available yet??

I share your pain I love getting the new figures.
But I do often wonder why I take such great pleasure in looking at them and working out percentages of decrease etc! I've got them all on a spreadsheet going back to the 60s..
I think we're just going to have to wait, and I hope I dont miss the thread when they are posted!

when i started posting this morning it struck me that i was in the company of others around the world who were just getting up or going to bed.
one can actually see when the brits have hit the forum - like now .

Fellow UK person! I generally get on first thing in the morning and briefly check out the last few pages of posts, then occasionally I get an hour or two in the evening to have a proper read through and respond!
Trouble is in our house, my pc is always being comandeered by one of my sons! Mark even got me a spare laptop so I could get online, but all that means is one son upstairs, one down, talking to each other on MSN and sending rude noises through!

a very good friend of mine is in charge of plant maintenance at a local factory.
there are 300 people working in this factory and two of them are muslims.
the muslims have requested that they require special toilets just for themselves.
I'm not sure of the cultures involved, but I'm also in Leicestershire where there is a very high multi cultural population, and I work in a public building where we so REGULARLY have to replace the toilet seats they started an audit thinking someone was fiddling the system, I hadn't until this point connected the two things!
I dont think it's disgusting, it's just culture, but I do agree that these concessions would not be made for westerners in a public building over there.

I have faded, and rather well... but I have almost zero relationship with my family and certainly no friends left in the borg. A week or two ago I wrote out my DA letter, I have not sent it in, but I'm still mulling it over. There is part of me that wants to show them this is my choice not just weakness, and also the FREEDOM of not having to hide why I am doing this.
We're all in different places, but here because we were all in the same one!

I really dont think this was a personal attack, and I for one can see where it came from. only today a fader posted about a possible elder visit and had the usual different opinions ranging from keep quiet, pretend you are depressed to go out with a bang and why should you try and lie just to keep people who dont love you anyway.
I can TOTALLY sympathise with Changeling. And strangely also with people who have either chosen to be disfellowshipped or had that choice made for them. i can see positives in both situations. However those that are fading are sometimes judged here to be weak, which isn't right.
Personally although I'm fading, I wouldn't judge someone for their own choice and i have much respect for those who have DAd especially, BUT on talking this weekend to others, I had a really good conversation when someone said that we must remember these JWs still in are under mind control, in this way we may see that by maintaining contact with them, it's possible that we can help some out, and even if not, WE are the better people.
I feel Changeling was asking a valid question, personally I dont think DFd ones are trying to get us to share their pain, I just think they are very sure it's the right decision so like any good friend will try and influence us to do the same thing, but like any good friend, they must respect our personal choice and the need to do what we feel is right at that time.
Maybe if/when I DA I will be on that side of the fence and realise how good and free it is and try and encourage others to jump too!
