mkr.. I could never get this one!! How unfair, that anyone, regardless of their life course, if they die before the end will get automatic entry into the 'paradise', yet billions of good people will die and not ever get the chance..

144000....DO THE NUMBERS ADD UP?????
by chuckyy inas jws we were told only 144000 go to heaven from the time of christ right up to this day.it dawned on me before i was baptized one day during my study that the numbers dont add up.
the brother was telling me that the roman persecutions of the christians were killing thousands every week.
initially, within weeks of jesus death, there were 5000 christians at least in jerusalem.

finally got rid of the book study from our home last week, so this is the first Thursday (we had it then cos our cong shared a hall) I haven't had a meeting thing going on, even though I wasn't attending I used to have to get the chairs out etc and listen to it all afterwards and some of them would shout upstairs...arrgggh.
So relieved!!! I felt good since Iwoke up just thinking about it.

Can I pick your brain?
by nerofiddle inim looking for your help with an issue.
although im agnostic and not a bible believer, im currently having regular visits/discussions with a couple of jw elders.
im fully aware of the jw doctrine that christ is a created being and im familiar with scriptural texts and the reasoning they use in support of that claim.

Can I hijack this thread a little.. and also ask..
How do you trinitarians on the board explain the 'let not my will but yours take place' and also.. take this cup away from me, when jesus was dying, and god speaking to jesus when he was on the earth, ie this is my son the beloved...
I am genuinely interested, and also open minded, I'm not defending the JWs mistranslation of the bible, but other texts in the bible just point out the separate identity of Jesus and God.

Do you feel 'Disconnected' since leaving the borg?
by AK - Jeff ini mean - many of us had a history that was exclusively in the 'truth'.
nothing else.. now having left, do you long for a discussion with some who share your past culture, understandings, and lifestyle?.
is that the 'appeal' of this board to many?

NHS stuff about blood
by PoppyR ina sister sent me this link via email, and i found it threw me all over again.
i just dont know what to think about the whole blood transfusion issue.. it's a nhs site.. (for us etc, thats government health, not witness related at all) and seems to be backing up totally the wt thing about blood being dangerous.. i want some other opinions, it's one jw belief i dont know what to think about!.

Thank you for your responses, and yes the reason I posted is because I DO want to make an informed decision BEFORE it becomes a life and death issue, but it's so hard to be informed with so much crap still in my head from 36 years as a JW and about 6 months not!!

I've had the internet for about 8 years... but only this past year have I looked at sites like this one..
So NO.. unfortunately I was too stupid to reason, and just did as I was told and kept away from apostate sites!
I think you have to be ready mentally before you can go and start searching, that's why our friends and family who are still entrenched cant see past the ends of their noses.
