I'd like it if you could be in a successful band too cos then you could look after me in my old age :)

one day, i was with my grandma and she asked me what my dreams (for the future) were.. i told her i'd like to be in band because i love listening to, and making music.
plus, it'd be great if i could earn some good money with it.. she some how got the nerve to say,.
"no, i mean a realistic dream.".
I'd like it if you could be in a successful band too cos then you could look after me in my old age :)

the watchtower meeting (this congregation meets on sat) that i just listened to via phone conference was cut 10 minutes short to have a letter read to all the congregation.
here are the highlights:.
- the governing body realizes that the pressures of this system of things are getting heavier on his people.. - just like the governing body of the 1st century, we do not want to add additional burden to you either.
My boys have just come back from the meeting in very high spirits because of this announcement.lol
I imagine to the Rank and file this is going to be a huge relief. I wonder how many of them actually will use the time for family study.
I think it's great news, especially for those of us in 'divided' households!

this morning i had a 40 min phone conversation with my ex husband because i spoke with my 15 year old son on wednesday about the inaccuracies of the jw belief system he has been raised with by his dad.
obviously ex husband is not happy about this.
the one thing he kept saying is that even if it is wrong it is not a bad way to live your life............what would you say to this?.
((((Fi)))) You know I get what you're going through, I have asked myself that question about is it such a bad life. Well No, there are worse paths to choose. But given the option I think you've told me you wish you'd never been baptised, etc. I certainly do.
I think the huge things are lack of education, lack of choice of a career you might actually enjoy. Marrying someone cos you want to have sex and rushing through the 'are we right for each other' part. And the negative and judgemental attitude. And dont get me started on birthdays!
BUT I think you should take the weight and guilt off your shoulders, you are not making these decisions for your son, all you are doing is what any GOOD parent would do, giving him the information and the choice, What a lucky boy. I would say dont push, give him a little, then step back, let him think, carry on as before.
As to the EX, sometimes they forget that we are 50% of the parenting, and why should we sit by and allow them to only give our children one point of view.
Your a fantastic caring, loving, giving person and mother, in time your son will appreciate that. Just keep doing what you're doing!

( one recent post indicated this 90% figure) .
i don't wish to debate the pro's and con's of atheism, just help me understand your personal.
reasonings for this huge difference in figures.
I personally feel (no science involved!) that it's about 50/50 on this board. And I feel that figure of Atheists would be much higher than the general population because to have been a witless and now not be requires determination, intelligence and a very questioning mind. This leads a lot to reason there is no god.
Personally I have followed the typical route of Christian - Agnostic and now I'm leaning towards Atheism, but also quite like the Deism belief, Which accepts 'God' may have started things off, but now has no interest in what goes on here.

well here i am having a bible study at my home and the doorbell rings, the door opens and closes, i hear a few voices.
she comes back and hands me the march 1 watchtower, march 8 awake and a invitation to the memorial on march 22, 2008 and a special talk to" who is qualified to rule mankind?
" on april 6, 2008.. so did you get yours?.
I do think it's a sign of how far gone you're considered to be! First year I got an invite, and strangely went, I dont know why, second year I got an invite, but did not go, This year the family haven't even mentioned it, Guess they've finally realised I'm not just 'Weak' I'm Wicked!

from wales to london,,,4.7.
hope all are ok. orb.
Did wake me up, me and the dog were a bit disturbed, but the kids slept right through. Nothing fell off or over, did make me think what it must be like to live through a real one though!
Got a text from my JW ex... "bet you thought that was Armageddon"
It made me smile, cos actually the thought never crossed my mind, think I'm finally deprogrammed! I replied
: "Lol. Glad I dont have to live with that fear anymore "
That was the end of that conversation!

Mostly for UK people!
Funny someone posted a pic of a member of Slade, when I used to visit my sisters Circuit assembly in Dudley, one of the band members was always there with his wife, fairly sure he wasn't a witness, but he was always there.
Also when I was young Romeo out of the band 'Showaddy waddy' you may remember 'Under the moon of love'!!! Him and his wife Dawn and their kids used to come to the meetings and caused quite a stir, fortunately they had the good sense never to be baptised! He was the only black member of the band. From what I hear they still live around here.
Very small claims to fame!

as i understand it, drinking in the uk is not as stigmatized as it is in the us.
going to the pub after the sunday meeting is on a par with going to the all-you-can-eat chinese buffet over here in the us.. so, if a person has real problems with drinking, and asks for help, how do the elders handle this?
if they themselves tipple overmuch, how can they be unbiased in rendering judicial matters in this regard?.
I do know personally a person who went to the elders for help with his drinking, he is no doubt an alcoholic, they told him to stop. gave him 2 weeks or face a judicial committee.
He of course could not stop, not without help and support, so now he drinks secretly with no help and feels guiltier than ever!
Loving organisation

venting here.. we had christmas with my sister and her two daughters, just 1 of 3 of my sisters that is out of the evil cult!!
yay!
we had a blast, her girls are 9 & 12 and sweet and smart and funny.
It hurts, and will carry on hurting, but please remember the mind control aspect of this cult we were all part of.
I had Christmas day just me and my two boys, because that's the only family I have now. Yet in reality I have a mother, 3 siblings, scores of friends and relatives that are lost to me, but still we had a brilliant day just like you did, and I hope it will be the first of many.
It's their loss. Keep being happy, there is no greater advert for stepping outside the WTS! They want to see you miserable, dont give in to it.
Thinking of you
