ok i know that this thread has probably been done a hundred times but for us former r/f members these stories are fascinating.

Was Milton Henschel still allowed to vote on GB matters? Does anyone know if the other 2 or 3 real old GB members are still active in the meetings?

The Federal Reserve is owned by the member banks, however the US Government controls the operations of the Federal Reserve and appoints the Board Members. While they control the money they don’t actually print the money; the US Department of the Treasury prints it. The Federal Reserve controls the interest rates and can add or subtract the money supply by buying or selling bonds.
As too the US system being dangerous, what large country has a better solution or central bank? Germany’s Central Bank basically controls the EU, and they are not doing that well right now. And Japan’s system is a real joke. China just pegs their currency to the US Dollar.
Over the years the Federal Reserve has caused inflation and deflation by mistakes they have made. I don’t always feel they are doing the right thing with Interest Rates, but again who is doing a better job on a large scale?

You are correct that they have not stated that it is not 7,000 years. But, they have not printed that the Creative day is 7,000 years since the late 60's or early 70's. The last one I can find in May of 1968 in the Watchtower. And yes in the red book!! In that Watchtower they even used 2975 as the end of the seventh creative day.
What is funny, is how many Witnesses today even know how they came up with 1975??

The key is they have all but backed away from the 7,000 year creative day. Which had no basis in the Bible.
So it really doesn't matter whether Adam was alone 28 years or 28 minutes.
i first bought a comparative study bible along with the new world translation, so i could compare the differences.
my question though is this.
how can i find a version that might contain the original text, side by side with english translation, or some thing simular.

I have read many of your post and have enjoyed them. I would like to ask one question.
You spend a great deal of time in study of the Bible. Yet it doesn't appear that you believe it to be the word of God. So is it the history, Hobby, or do you teach and earn a living doing this?
For me it is a mix between the history and hobby.

Some jump to the wrong conclusion that all Elders were somehow cut from the same mold. That they are all power hungry people who took advantage of their position for their own gain. This is really not the case.
The Organization is currently in the process of losing many of their best Elders. Many of those who walked away really wanted to do what was right and good for their respective Congregations. I am certain that many Ex-Elders on this Board can be included in that group.

I stepped down, but became a nominal JWs because of family. So no I have not went looking for any I had contact with.
I do however make it a point to help close friends plan for the future.
I also attempt to speak with them in a voice of reason; for example someone may make a statement about they feel that Armageddon is so near. I may first joke that I would still fully fund my 401K. Then if they press the issue I just point out all of the prophesied events that still need take place.
