Has anyone seen Silent Hill? Anyway, I thought this movie was fantastic!! I loved the engaging plot. As the title suggests, crucial to the story is the misdeeds of a Christian cult. Thus I thought it might interest some of us on JWD.

If you've played the game you may not like it so much though. For those who are curious, you may like to know that Silent Hill is a horror movie (adapted from a game) and it's a tad violent.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned this movie on JWD (the last I checked). Anyone seen it? Was released in April 2006 in America, UK and Canada. Arrived at the bum end of the world a month ago.

You and your proud to be fundamentalist brothers..... Sounds to me like you were calling me a fundamentalist.

That your "brothers are fundamentalist" does not necessarily mean that you are one yourself.

I stand by what I have said. I have not accused you of being a fundamentalist, but I apologise for any offense nonetheless.

But I guess this thread is already proving that words have no meanings.

The words discussed in this thread most certainly do as a good dictionary would readily prove. It is only a matter of whether or not one agrees with those definitions.

One cannot change the fact that the majority of the English-speaking world today regards "gay" as a reference to "homosexuality" and not to "general feelings of happiness". The word "gay" hasn't lost its meaning. The meaning evolved.

How and why we choose to accept or deny change speaks volumes about our personality.

I never did call you a fundamentalist. And I'm fully aware that you would not destroy your credibility by calling yourself one in this thread. What I did imply is that you seem to have a good sense of solidarity with those who would like the world to redefine what a fundamentalist means.

Like it or not, "Fundamentalism" as it relates to Christian religious thought, has a defined meaning.

That the term "fundamentalist" came to carry the sense of religious intolerance and self-righteous superiority is the doing of the fundamentalists themselves. Society merely decided to call a spade a spade. It has nothing to do with society living in its "wonderland" or society forcing an undesirable meaning onto the word. It is utter rubbish to imply that the more general definition of a fundamentalist was a product of whim.

If one thinks that one can change the definition of a "fundamentalist" by promoting more currency of the preferred usage, then I wish you and your proud-to-be-fundamentalists-brothers the best of luck! But given the kind of attitudes that often mark a fundamentalist, it will be a miracle for the English-speaking world to ever refer to a fundamentalist in a bright, sparkly tone.

i remember once reading someone's post where he/she used an excellent scripture that strongly suggests that jesus is god.

i think the point was that jesus was going to raise "the temple" which is his body, i.e.

jesus will resurrect himself.

Most early church Father's recognize that the "Angel" of the Lord was more than a mere Angel. There are several references to Angel of The LOrd that infer that it is God himself including the one speaking through the burning bush to Moses as well as the name given to Jacob, "Israel" which means "he who wrestles with God" after he wrestled with the Angel of The Lord. Also note that Scripture says that THE WORD saw it not robbery to be equal with God. But that he emptied and humbled himself lower than the angels. Simply, you do not seek what you have. He was equal with God and was clearly above the angels in order to lower himself. Several texts in the NT have the scribes and pharisees making an acknowledgement that Jesus was saying things that make him Equal to God. Though he never stopped being God when he became man, he relinquished himself of his power and authority in order to live and suffer as a man. So that everything done while he was on earth was given to him by The Father. Even Jesus stated that he has the power to take leave his life and take his life up again. John 10:17 Notice also where The Watchtower renders Jehovah to the all the places where KURIOS is in the New Testament EXCEPT for where it says JESUS is JEHOVAH in Philippians 2:11. THey leave it as Jesus Christ is Lord, eventhough the Greek says Kurios. For sake of keeping this post short, that's all I'll write for now. - Kristofer

Are you saying that you imagine that it is much easier for staunch Christians to admit that their God is a Pagan product than it is for them to argue over the Trinity doctrine?
