What is the most important God himself,or a book.
I have come to the conclusion thay many people make an idol out of a book and God has no say in the matter.People are worshipimg a representation of God instead of Yahweh himself.
I am quite sure that many things in the bible are not literal, you have to do mental gymnastics to support everything as literal and harmonize with science,I am not saying I dont believe in God or Christ because I do,but in the creation account for example if it was written in the way it really happened it would have been hard for man to understand so it was written in a simple way to explain the concept that God did it.And the flood account,if all the animals on earth came of the Ark in Turkey and spread out over the earth, how come for example almost all marsupials ended up in Australia and no where else on earth barring one marsupial breed breed in South America, did all the marsupials get together after getting off the ark and decide to head south east as a convoy?
The formation of the bible as we know it was a point of much contreversey, and the decision of which writings to include or exclude as inspired out of many was taken in a very contreversial way by a load of Catholic priests and hundreds of years later the protestants discarded a few more books to arrive at the current cannon.
The Bible seems to have also been affected by popular Greek hellenistic infusion with more talk of hellfire in the later books of the bible.
Yes I believe IN GOd and the basic message of the bible, but I do not think that the Bible is totally infallable and always literal even though I would like to think so.

Is'nt it a shame that she has used a trajic event to score points and feed fear tactics.
And is'nt it the witnesses who criticise those who leave for supposed negativity,it seems like the figuritive whip of fear is the prefered tactic to the idea of a paradisic reward.
Yes,sadly many have lost their lives in defending freedom, but what would have happened if those people did not make this sacrifice, how would the JWs have fared without others prepared to support freedom for speech religion and liberty, that which the religion demands for the watchtower corporation then denies its own members. -

10/1 WT: Creative days = 7,000 years
by Seeker inthe fourth paragraph on page 30 in the october 1, 2001 wt says this:.
"getting back to paul's statement in hebrews, we note that he pointed out that "there remains a sabbath resting for the peoples of god," and he urged his fellow christians to do their utmost "to enter into that rest.
" this shows that when paul wrote those words, "the seventh day" of god's rest, which had started some 4,000 years earlier, was still in progress.

Yes,the Witnesses have claimed that the earth that we stand on could be billions of years old but as for the creation of plants animals etc have clearly implied that this would have been no more than 49000 years ago including dinasours etc, that is why they have tried to discredit scientific dating methods because of the hole they are dug in which flies in the face of overwhelming geological evidence.
I found this a bit hard to swallow as I got a bit more educated when I was a witness. -

The GB like to have all the authority of an inspired prophet with none of the responsibility,ie all prophecies must come true 100 per cent.

Babyboo
Hi
Are you the same Babyboo who I have met in the Awoke! former JW's room on Paltalk chat, If so Hi nice to meet you here as well, either way thanks for sharing your heart,I think where you have a religion with double standards and doubletalk which uses two different sorts of weights, then the rank and file follow the lead and hence the double standard hypocrisy you witnessed among the witnesses and we all have witnessed. -

Stiffler
I remember a talk about 15 years ago given by a member of the Governing body and relayed in a live link to several assemblies in which he said it was inapropriate for a witness holding privaledges to have a beard, the reason given was that beards were associated with rebelious elements in modern society and witnesses did not want to look like rebels,I thought it strange reasoning at the time since I could think of many highly respected individuals in the world who were not at all rebelious and sported beards,it was also a window that started me to have real doubts as the very next day witnesses who had had beards for many years came in clean shaven and behaving like true loyal robots. -

The UK is already an overcrowded little island with about 58 million of us packed in and big pressure on precious building land resources etc,and strugling to cope with a vast number of assylum seekers who need help.
Australia on the other hand with a thumping great continent with a relitevely small population and vast resorces is above all equiped to help. -
