I know exactly how you feel. My husband ordered it and I was horrified. He kept bugging me to read it and I of course said NO. He was persistent, remember the WT's encouragement to leave magazines laying around for people in your household, or sharing small tidbits? My husband did just that, he would share small pieces with me and I would eventually ask him to show me. I did eventually pick it up to read. It is great, I strongly recommend getting over that initial feeling of "abhorrence" and "wt training" and dive in. You will be happy that you did.

Did the early Christian's put as much importance on disfellowshipping?
by free2beme inas a witness, i remember that disfellowshipping, reproofing, disassociating, etc, were a huge issue in the congregation and took a lot of the elder bodies time and energy.
there was all the backroom meetings, the interviewing of witnesses to the crime, the late night discussions, the researching and so on.
i asked an elder one time, "did the early christians spend as much time as witness do today, on all this disciplinary action?

I agree with you. The act of disfellowshipping is out of hand. Instead of calling brothers and sisters in to help them with scripture they are more inclined to "cleanse" the congregation at all cost. It is a "guilty until proven innocent" system, they have the mentality, "take action now and ask NO questions later." I can't imagine that Jesus would approve.

Is Jesus Mediator for the Great Crowd's prayers?
by jwfacts inthe watchtower makes the claim that jesus is only mediator for the 144,000 because only they are in the new covenant.
however i was looking on wikipedia.org and there is a statement that the watchtower does teach that jesus is mediator for the prayers of the great crowd.
does anyone know if this is correct?

0 Is it only anointed Christians who can experience a release by ransom, the forgiveness of their sins? No, God is reconciling to himself all other things by making peace through the blood shed on the torture stake, as Colossians 1:14, 20 indicates. This involves the things in the heavens (the 144,000) as well as the things upon the earth
I have been having a real problem wrapping my head around this issue. I guess it never dawned on me what our actual belief was as JW's. If Jesus wasn't our Mediator why do we go to memorial if it isn't meant for us? Does his sacrifice apply to the great crowd, or is his sacrifice good for the anointed only? Can the great crowd only reach forgiveness through Jesus sacrifice on the coat tails of the anointed? Just what exactly does it mean to have Jesus as our mediator and how does that affect us differently from the way we are taught? I was always told to "pray through Jesus name", is there more than that? This issue has upset me and it has left me feeling lost. I don't know where this leaves me.
